Finding the one true path.

Postby Guest » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:54 am

I suppose I will start at the beginning. I'm 33 now, recently divorced, own a house, have a degree, and a decent job that allows me alot of flexibility. I was married for 12 years, she split, and for the longest time I had a serious case of oneitis. I've never been a player, always had horrible approach anxiety and just just got lucky most of the time. I've been with 7 women in my life. I am the definition of AFC.

About 3 months ago, I was reading an article about Neil Strauss and bought the book, yeah, you know the one. I devoured it in 2 days. I then picked up "The Rules of the Game" and have successfully completed the Stylelife challenge. I'm still using alot of scripted openners, and I'm still struggling with approach anxiety, but I'm getting past it. I love the pickup-labs pdf's and I do use the ones that are approved.

I live north of Dallas, in Wichita Falls, so this was the closest lair I could find. I went over to dallasPUA website first, but that place is dead. I hope this one isn't. I wish that I would have found out about the community back in 96-97, but better late than never. I'm registering here because I want to continue to learn, and I want to converse with and get advice from people who have been down this road.

I was an AFC before I got married, and it's part of the reason for the divorce. I've been down that road, and I'm done with it. It's time to try something different. I'm searching for the true path.

Welcome. This board hasn't been exactly on fire lately, but its got some solid members who have a lot to offer.

Your story sounds all too familiar. I was with mine for about the same length of time. Same age. Good Job. House. Good Degree. Now Divorced and riding whatever hi's and lows the single scene throws at me.

welcome to the lair.

as UH said, there are many members on this board that are very good at PU, not only are they knowledgeable, but they can pick up women in field. wow what a thought!!

anyways, i suggest you make it out to an official meetup. that way you have access to the "lounge" area where we have additional threads and posts.

we typically have one on the 1st and 3rd friday of each month, but for the past few months we have not had a one (probably because the organizers have been busy with life outside of PU)...

im glad you found this path and i hope it to be everything you desire. good luck on your journey!

UH and Prodigy,

Thank you for the warm invite. I'd love to come hang out with you guys sometimes. I 'm still working through my AFCness so I may not be able to stay hooked in sets with you more advanced guys, but I promise I will learn from you.

I'm not a great club guy, but I love going to the mall on a weekday and gaming the bored girls there. They have to stay there babysitting a stall, but they have absolutely nothing to do. Of course, I figured the best way to start out was with the low hanging fruit as it were.

Anyway, look forward to meeting you guys.

Peace,

Traxxus

Traxxus,

I love your humility, seriously, that's an amazingly attractive and effective trait that women will eat up so don't lose sight of that...

And, I do believe that when you approach a Community such as ours humility is uber important to fit in.

But, I'm here to tell you that you need to stop thinking like an AFC and stop making excuses for yourself and to stop letting your limiting beliefs dictate your life. You may very well be an AFC in practice, but in your mind, you need to be the most badass PUA that ever existed.

The 'elders' here will never, ever, ever in a million fucking years think less of you because you couldn't hold your own in a set with guys that have more experience than you. That's not what we're about. So, don't apologize, in advance, for something that will never be an issue with us.

More important to us, as a group, is that you try and that you are hungry to improve...both of which you have in spades right now bro.

Welcome to the Lair!!! I want to leave you with a bit of advice that I learned, personally, along my journey. If one is to bet on the hungry versus the skilled, one should take the hungry every time because they are fighting for more than just success...they are fighting for themselves.

Good luck and welcome...

First of all welcome! We are very glad to have you. One thing I've noticed is the board heats up everytime someone that is new and wants to learn signs up and genuinely asks for help and advice. Like Prodigy said we have some really knowledgeable guys and some real life super heroes. I respect the guys on this forum so much. This (The Dallas Lair) really is a community and several of my real life friends/wingmen are people that I either met on this board or at one of our meetups. The point is this: Reading and learning about all this is great but it finnally becomes real and sinks in when you meet and have people to learn with. Get ready for lightbulbs in your head to start going off!

Well again, thank you both Ram and Bull Run.

Bull Run, Thank you specifically for your wisdom. You're right about thinking like an AFC. It's been 33 years of AFC indoctrination vs. 3 months of PUA thinking. It won't disappear over night, but I appreciate you pointing out the beta behavior. It'll take me awhile to adjust, but every day I take a little step closer.

In the Stylelife Challenge, you develop a "energizing routine" that you're supposed to do before you go out. It helps to get you in the right frame. I'm going to add a line to mine. "I am the most BAD-ASS PUA ever!" I think it will help.

So now, I just have to figure out when you guys are meeting so that I can learn and improve.
