Since this sounds like a date with a girl that you've known and liked for a while, I'll format my suggestions accordingly...

We'll both be on equal footing at the event, neither of us is going to know anywhere there most likely. I'll definitely work on some DHV stuff for the table.

Excellent, then you have a great opportunity to show her your social skills.
Just as TopDog said, you're going to inherently DHV yourself almost all that you need to by making friends and having fun (remember you're having fun with her..).
Be careful not to overdo DHV's at the table...they should all be under the radar and implied.
Also, when you're making these new friends, set a frame with them that this girl....for all they know....is your girl.
This should be completely implied by your mannerisms and body language (not really by things that you say).
If you can set that frame in the room, she'll pick up on it...and she'll either go with the implication, or it will atleast bring the consideration up in her mind.
If you and her are having a good time, you can bet she'll anchor that frame well...and you've set things up perfectly for wherever you want to take it.
example:
Lets say you're introducing yourself to someone that neither of you know very well.
Make your own introduction first...then pull her over and introduce her.
This frames you as the leader, and (to the person you're meeting) her as someone they should know if they're going to know you.
If done right, they will just assume that you and her are together without you having told them.
To her, it implies that she should know the people you know, and you prove your sociability to her.

I think the only thing I'm going to really have to work at is blasting through those previous conceptions she's taken from the past and leading it to a different place, lol

I suspect this will probably be the toughest part.
Blasting away an old frame, for me, has always been a tough thing to accomplish.
The best way I've found to do this is to make sure you don't hold yourself back by thoughts like "I never would have done something that before, and she might notice."
Don't worry about her noticing a change....just make the change, and stick to the idea of having a good time.
