I think in the beginning it's about learning the theory, getting experience, and getting over AA.
I think journals are essential too, to get feedback on your progress and to make sure you keep moving forward.
After that, I really think it's the student's responsibility to learn. Everything is out there for the taking.
I'd say -
-Read "the mystery method" or "magic bullets"
-Get on the boards, find yourself a couple wings close to your own level
-Go out 4 nights a week, and do as many approaches as possible.
-Get a copy of Brad P's AA busting mission and complete it, if needed
-Post honest field reports, and ask lots of dumb questions.
