I hate that damn VH1 show...

I was a little worried about that show at first, but like what others have already posted, it only shows the very basic ideas (foundation) of MM and also most people are going to forget about the show after a while. Plus, I think many AFCs are going to try this stuff in public, realize how much more work there is, fail and call it quits. Also, I have posted a few sarging experiences (FRs) where the girls called me out on the show (asking if I had seen it) and I just responded, "You mean the Pick Up Artist?" "I love that show." "Have you ever seen the faces that Pradeep makes... blah blah blah" and it has paid off. You just have to roll with it and play it off. VH1 did air "The Pickup Artist Tricks of the Trade" where you actually see Mystery go more in depth with his method but it is till only basic foundation.

The only problem is that the opener starting with: "I need a female opinion on something" is out among a few others. I have an opener that starts out with that but the rest is my routine and now I need to change the beginning up a little. There are a few things that the public will pick up on (like some of the vocab, two girls fighting outside gambit and non opener routines) and that is one of the reasons why Mystery says to come up with your own material. I have also heard that "The Game" may become a movie but I think Hollywood would probably focus more on the narrative of the book and not so much the actual game... That is a maybe as of now and I am not sure. If that happened we would probably need to change up our vocabulary or at least the main words like: neg, DHV, IOI, gambit, etc. I am curious to see (in future sarges) how many of the people that actually watch the show pick up on the routines.

I use (and try to use) more and more of my own material each time I go out but there is also some canned material (even though it may or may not be as canned as some seen on the VH1 show) that I use in my game. We will need to make sure that non of our routines have affiliation with the VH1 show and if someone happens to ask about the show for whatever reason, then we need to know how to play it off. We will see what is in store for the future. :)

You are right but that doesn't mean that it will be released.

Looking at the names of the characters, I'm not sure that is based on Neil Strauss's book.

Yeah I prob should of mentioned I don't think it's going to be a major studio release... Some video:
http://vidsearch.myspace.com/index.cfm? ... =208319535

Synopsis:
Successful entrepreneur Max learns that the woman he married has always really been interested more in his money than in being his wife. After his cousin Ricky gets burned by a gold-digger himself, Ricky introduces Max to the world of the pickup artist, hoping to give Max confidence and the tools to find a woman who likes him for who he is.

This whole thing is so funny, because basically what we (and MM) try to do is mimic the characteristics of an alpha male who is already getting laid a ton. We act disinterested, qualify so that she thinks we like her for something other than her looks, and then escalate. These characteristics don't change no matter how publicized or popular the methods are. It would be an interesting thought that what if every single guy knew and practiced the pick up arts and every single girl knew logically in the forefront of her mind what he was doing? Like it was as big as McDonalds or something. I mean obviously it would still work, it has to work, natural selection does not change because it becomes popular, but it would be very interesting.

I do think that more people are talking about pickup. But I think you could use the same routines they use on the show and it wouldn't matter much that they were on TV, so much as the material shown was lame to begin with. I used some material on a set and they accused me of using some stuff from The Game (what's funny is that I think they got it wrong, but it must have been my vibe). I played dumb and I bounced them to a strip club about 10 minutes after that.

i like: "oh you've seen it, me and my friends love that show (they actually dared me to see if it works)" and move on. address, and move on. makes it seem like you were merely pursuing something fun, and you and your friends enjoy playing around.

I've never been called out for using routines, even though I use some of the most worn-out openers in the book, namely Who Lies More, and once in a while Jealous Girlfriend.

I started thinking perhaps not that many girls are watching the show.

Tonight, I opened a 2-set with, "Hey, have you seen that pick up artist show on VH1?" They both said yeah. One said the guy (Mystery) was weird and a little creepy. I asked them if they thought it would work and the other girl said, yeah, it probably would. A non-sequitur to transition and presto, I'm in set. :)

So I think a lot of women are watching the show. I'm sorta disappointed I haven't been called out. I'm going to have to try the dental floss opener, since I think that's the one I saw the most. And it's also pretty distinctive.

I was there, I saw Vector open. He is very smooth on his open - asked about the VH1 show and instantly he was in set. Nice work!
