Inner Game

Postby Burl » Wed Sep 12, 2007 8:25 pm

It seems to me that Inner Game is the most important part of the art of the game. When my game was real good, it was because my Inner Game was the same.

I am new to Dallas. I want to get my game back on track, therefore I am looking for some help with my Inner Game.

I think I saw a post on here by a hypnotist? If so, I want to work with him to improve my Inner Game. I need to quit smoking and start working out again. That will be my start.

If anyone ses this, please let me know how to contact someone for help with Inner Game.

Guys, improve your Inner Game and the rest will follow. Just read Chapter 8 in Style's book about working with Steve P. and Rasputin.

Yes.. very true. I ironically just quit smoking and started exercising regularly about 5 days before I even came across all of this invaluable advice. It does wonders, and although I'm far from fulfilling all of my game, I can tell ya that my inner game has already improved a few levels.

Just as a side note, it was really empowering to go out to the club for the first time in 5 years without a cigarette in my hand all the time. I was able to dance and maneuver around more and didn't have to think about where I was blowing my smoke. good stuff

I agree 100%

You have to take a hollistic approach of mind/body/spirit instead of just trying out new tricks. I've been working out for two years and lost 70 lbs. Now I'm working on gaining muscle and losing a little more weight. I also changed my sytle up a bit and became more expressive and am having fun with it with a lot of positive feedback from everyone. Also, take a Yoga class at least a few times. It will help you tremendously with your form when lifting weights, stretching, and even just walking. Tall insecure people tend to hunch. They don't want to attract attention. There's nothing wrong with walking upright with your shoulders back, chest out, and stomach in like you're the fucking king of the jungle. But don't just try it, you might hurt yourself. Take a class. Take a dancing class, too. A dance instructor really helped me with my posture.

I also practice Insight meditation. It helps you maintain focus and attention in a variety of situations and helps you feel more comfortable in your own skin. Insight meditation, by the way, is mentioned in The Game, although I was practicing it long before.

Three books I recommend, which, by the way, are on the Dallas PUA booklist:

1. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
2. The Way of the Superior Man
3. Influence: Science and Practice (also titled as The Psychology of Influence) by Cialdini

My favorite quote from 7 Habits:

"Reactive people are affected by... the social weather. When people treat them well, they feel well; when people don't, they become defensive or protective. Reactive people build their emotional lives around the behavior of others, empowering the weaknesses of other people to control them. Proactive people are driven by values. The ability to subordinate an impulse to a value is the essence of the proactive person... their response to the stimuli, conscious or unconscious, is a value-based choice or response."

Right now I just received "Frame Analysis" in the mail and will start reading it as soon as I'm caught up with my schoolwork.

I think if you do have good inner game and have done your homework, there's no need for PUA magic tricks so long as you got the theory down and strucutre your interactions with the end in mind (or the tail, however you wanna put it haha).

I've posted this before, but I still feel this way.

If you want to get good inner game, start by improving your outer game. Everything is learned this way! You cannot get good at anything by reading. Go in the field and play! Once you become competent, confidence will follow.
