If you want lessons, don't go to Arthur Murray they have a real bad name in ballroom dancing. If you want lessons, you can get group lessons from lots of places for about $10 a lesson. private lessons can run between $35 and $75 per hour lesson. If you guys want to find out more I will dig up specifics but you can also come to the USA Dance Ballroom Dance that happens every weekend and ask. They are doing Argentine Tango right now. It's $8 for nonmembers and the class lasts an hour. then the dance continues for another 3 hours.

If swing is your thing, Dallas Swing Dance Society does a dance saturdays with lessons I believe. They are similarly priced.

There are tons of places in town that do free Salsa lessons in town.

If you wanna learn to dance, I can hook ya up.

I really want to learn to dance... but none of this salsa or ballroom stuff... i mean the things that you actually see people doing (urban, hip-hop, freestyle, whatever you want to call it)

Sage, everything "new" is based off of the "boring" old stuff.

Salsa, ballroom, tango, etc are all going to be a base to build off of.
Also, they are all partner dances, which *require* kino to work.
Modern club dancing is everyone doing there own thing, with the
grind being the only partner move (if you can even call it that) that shows
up in any regular way. Being able to bust out and vibrate like a ferret
on a double expresso and Red Bull binge is funny and might attract
attention, but being able to show grace and smoothness in movement
will be even more of an attention grabber because so few people in clubs
have that ability these days.

Have you ever watched a Fred Astaire movie? Gene Kelley? Dude, if
you could even pull of 10% of what those guys did you would *rule* the
dance floor in almost any club.

Well, Hunter, I go to SMU. Anyone who doesnt, probably wouldn't be familiar with how SMU people get laid. The fraternities will rent out a major venue for the night, have busses shuttling back and forth between the event and campus (to prevent drunk driving and allow everyone to show up and come back completely hammered). At the location, if you're old enough or have a decent fake, you drink some more. If you're not, then you get someone to get you a few drinks and down them before the bouncers can catch you. Then when you're good and tipsy, you start dancing with the nearest person you want to bang. After an initial bit of behaving yourself, if they are responding to you and dancing with you, you move to the grind. You then procede to get dirtier and dirtier until you start to feel too sober. Then, you take the person to the bar and both get a few drinks. If you don't know them, you find out their name and, if they aren't wearing any identifying clothing or accesories, if they are a GDI or not. Then once you're both drunk, you either start making out right there, go back and get really dirty (hands up skirts and such things) on the dance floor, or go back home immediately. Eventually, when they start kicking everyone out, you take them home. If, at any point during this courtship, the person shows disinterest in fucking you by dancing with someone else or walking off, you go have a few more drinks and try with someone else.

So, you see, the only thing that really matters to an SMU guy is being able to perform the most basic urban dance moves. Unfortunately, they still manage to confound me.

(Of course, once you're drunk enough, if you can find someone else who is equally drunk and hasn't been snatched up by someone a bit more sober, as long as you're able to grab them and sort of grind on them without toppling over, all levels of dancers have equal opportunity for success... the only problem is when you wake up and find they have facebooked you... and that 7 turned into a 3...)

learn hip-hop dance. actually more specific learn the style of "poppin". If it can fit you. I learned to pop a few years back because Hey, if I think its friggin cool then everyone else will too. I was right. Every party i go to i show of some of my moves in the beggining and the rest of the night i have chicks opening ME! Im like the friggin usher of my city. Its a good DHV.

This one time this girl said to me that after her mom watched me dance that her mom actually told her that i had to be good in bed. Mystery is halve right tho, at clubs if your there to dance then concentrate on dancing. But you will have chicks come up to you on the dance floor and you can take them off the dancefloor and game them.

My last comment on the subject tho is Deffinetely LEAR TO DANCE! Nomatter what style, what ever fits you. But practice everyday! turn on the radio in your house and dance dance dance. It deff is good for game!

Don't get lessons from Athur Murray or any place like that.
around a $100 per hour and long contracts... the dance are people that are only a few months better than you.

Independent instructors cost less and have been teaching for years

Group lessons are around $10 - $15

Sorry i havent been on here in a while. I learnd from free instructional videos online. like youtube. I used BBOY.org you can go to the forum then the "FunkStyle" section which is pretty much the type of dance thats coming back. Poppin, waving, roboting. stuff like that. its just hiphop stuff you know. That site helps alot. they axplain things good.
Also get some friends that are good dancers and get them to help you. and also watch hip-hop videos on BET and watch what they do. peace

Consider taking a dance class lesson at a Plano community college or something... there might be possible targets you can work on.. just an idea.
