I have been wanting to get back into playing

SWEEI!!! We have a band! Now, what about equipment? Twitchy, do you have access to a kit? What kind of amps and guitars do we have? Anyone got a sound board? Mics? A place to practice?(cant use my place).

sympathy for the devil will be on the play list... can we pull off Freebird?

If you want HBs, you should learn to play "Jessie's Girl."

I'm not a shredder. I'm more bluesy/funky rock. It would probably be best to start out with something simple and play it really well. I'm way too rusty to break into Eruption in front of an audience.

Here's my first suggestion: a heavy cover of "You May Be Right" by Billy Joel.

As far as equipment. I only have a Mesa Rect-o-Verb 50 Watt (a surprisingly powerful 50 Watt, but still a 50 Watt). It would be good for a garage band, but not for playing out.

cool, you're in for every polka song we do.

Just What I Needed by the Cars

Sugar Magnolia, Me and My Uncle, Jack Straw by the Grateful Dead

Satisfaction, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Sympathy For the Devil The Stones

Common People, the William Shatner version

Star Man, Look Back In Anger, Scary Monsters David Bowie

Voodoo Child, Hey Joe, Jimi Hendrix

Bad Company, Bad Company

Crystal Ship, Love me Two Times, People are Strange, RoadHouse Blues, touch me, The Doors

Blue Highway, The Dead Next Door, Billy Idol

Kings Of The Highway, Spanish Sky, Wrong to Love You, Chris Isaak

Bloodletting (If we have a horn section), Darkening of the Light, Concrete Blond

And that's just off the top of my head.

If you want to write original stuff, I'm game, and yes I am into punk and there is a Pulp song on the list: Common People. I don't generally look at punk for something to sing, so I didn't put much on my list. BTW it is just my suggestions and not the official song list. My tastes as far as what I would want to do on stage go to the classic and southern rock genres. It is also the most generally liked and therefore the most palatable for everyone else involved.

Stuff I didn't put up is country Depeche Mode, Enjoy the Silence would go great with a steel guitar, I could go for Too Drunk To Fuck from DK, the Love Spit Love version of How Soon is Now. I would also throw in Everybody Wants to Be a Cat from the Aristocats.

When we sit down and work up a song list that is palatable for everyone involved we will know what kind of band we are, but I get the feeling we will probably lean to classic rock cover band.

I would like to come up with an NLP laden original song eventually. It must be done.
