I would love to go to Europe, but this is just ridiculous!!
Going on a vacation should be a reward, not a right. You work hard and save money to be able to enjoy the vacation, it should not be handed out! I work my ass off and pay a shit load in taxes--my tax money should not fund some lazy, unemployed jerk's trip to Hawaii. Shit, I Work hard and don't get to go on a decent vaca, why should some lazy fuck get to?!

I agree with that, I was just saying europe is bad ass. I don't think a vacation should be governmently (yes, I made that word up) paid for.

I agree with that, I was just saying europe is bad ass. I don't think a vacation should be governmently (yes, I made that word up) paid for.

I think everyone should be able to travel. Rich or poor. It would be nice if a government actually did something that helped it's people instead of simply stealing from them. Try saving for a decent vacation on a normal American salary of 32k. I would bet it's almost impossible. This scheme, however, is a way for the rich elite to steal from the people a little bit more. If the plan goes through I would bet dollars to donuts the "vacation" would be a bus tour or a train tour. No one is stepping on a plane. They would be offered probably only a couple easy, cheap choices so the powers that be can keep most of the tax profit.

lion, everyone should be able to travel but only if they had the means to do so. If they don't have the disposable income to travel then they shouldn't. Plain and simple. Personal finances 101. People need to live within their means, incurring mass amounts of debt is partially what got us where we are today. Unfortunately, some feel that they are entitled to nice things which I disagree with; the finer things in life are bonuses.
If the poor cannot afford these things, then they have a decision to make. Better their position in life (getting an education, a better job, stop having kids, etc) or do nothing. It's not the gov'ts job to pay for peoples vacations (or nice cars, which happens all the time through abuse of social programs).
