Anything goes

If you have any interest in learning about shari'a law I suppose you could start with wikipedia (yea, I know it's not the most dependable, but we're not writing a fucking report, it solves the dispute just fine.) and then you could try googling it

Or you could stick to flashy news stories that doesn't really tell you anything other than "HEY! they do different things there than we do!" I don't particularly care either way. I'm not interested in making 1000 word posts...
That site isn't biased at all! let's not even talk about your arrogance in assuming that they have to live their life like you do after all, she's not "Underage" she might be because of what YOU believe and YOUR laws in YOUR country (might I add that 14 is legal in some states in the US)
So it's ok with you to be a pedophile?

Ok, Zach.

BTW... I'll admit.. that site is biased... what about Communist News Network?

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/07/15/yemen.childbride/index.html

Surely they're not biased right? And this one was 10... not 14... but that's ok right?
"Nujood Ali is 10 years old, but she already has been married and divorced. It was an arranged marriage in which she said a husband three times her age routinely beat and raped her."
You make me sick.

If that's how they do things in their country then that's their business. You call them a pedophile, they call them "husband" it's none of your business and none of my business. Also their age of consent (or lack of) came as a result of a legal system that is similar to yours. The people there obviously differ in opinion from what we do here. That's that american arrogance at work again.
We've gotten a lil off track.
Similarities between CHRISTIANITY and ISLAM:
Same prophets.
Same stories.
Similar moral code.
Lord's prayer and al fatiha are identical
Creationist
One god
Heaven and hell
Virgin mary
And many many more! It's not hard to find the info. This is just stuff from the top of my head but I did google for supporting and opposing info

Also. Beating and raping is illegal under sharia law. I don't know if you know it or not, but there are americans who illegally beat and rape children too

Smirks -

Riddilin is for communists.

Playercool -

Damn, you're right. Shit. I've got nothing to add to that.

Spoonybard -

It's cool, I'm not saying you have to agree with everything I believe but just try to be respectful of tradition and the fact that it's important to a lot of people. It's not cool to go around flaming a whole group of people.

Finesse -

If this guy thinks Sharia law is the same as our law, he's never spent any time in a Muslim country, I bet the farm on it. I have an Iranian uncle, married in to the family, and man he fled some fucked up shit back in Iran. I have nothing against moderate muslims, I know a few who are really cool, BUT man they have some bad apples in high places.
You know, it's impossible to argue with the mentally unstable, i.e. Libs.

Even if I could, the intellectual juggernauts have come out...I have no retort to any of your arguments. You're right, I'm wrong. You win, I lose. I have seen the light and I repent...may all Capitalist pigs die a thousands deaths!!!

Commrades, I defer to your superior intellect...please show me how to live and what to think!!!
I got really busy, and I had no idea this thread progressed the way it did. I wish I had been following up.

However, BR, I will point out that you jump to some pretty interesting conclusions. I do not consider myself a liberal, because I do not believe in being partisan. I acknowledge that I lean more left then right, but I do not follow any one party line. What I did was point out that Budguy made some errors in naming liberal characteristics and concluding that they are anti-PUA. I would have done the same thing if he made the same errors with respect to conservative characteristics. You jumped to the conclusion that I am a liberal, that have a mental disorder, and now that I am a communist and anti-capitalism. This debate got heated because you bring such a venomous bias to it. I'm trying to stick to the spirit of the debate while you resort to ad hominem attacks. It's not easy.

El Fenix, I did not mean to refer to Christians in a pejorative sense. My intent was only to address Christians who use intelligent design to get Christian ideas into public schools. If we disagree about that, then so be it. We can disagree and still respect each other. I have many devout Christians in my life who I respect greatly, and you are one of them. My boss is one of my best and oldest friends; he is someone I greatly admire, and he is a devout Christian and a staunch conservative. I learn a lot from him, and he learns from me, because he has an open mind and a good heart. As an alleged mentally disturbed, communist, capitalism-hating liberal, I believe everybody should have the freedom to practice and study whatever religion or belief system they want, and I follow that belief with my own child.
