I have the attitude that I need A LOT of improvement and there is evidence for this. Should I just start believing and acting like I'm a total PUA? I feel that I have it in me but I'm still learning to get it out.

I was referring to what Prodigy replied with, bud. No need to be on the defensive.

Smirks was just addressing whatever limiting beliefs that Prodigy possesses. I don't know specificially what those LB's are, but based on Prodigy's post you tell there's something there.
Yes, you should believe that you're a total PUA...but, if you're not a total PUA then you're still not going to act like one. Still though, you should believe that you are and as you succeed, or fail, retain those things that make you successfuly and try to identify those things that result in failure.
You can never be too cocky as long as you cut it with levity. The way I've always acted, which works for me, is to be cocky AND funny when I'm talking to girls about everything save for my accomplishments. When it's time to talk about what I do and what I've done (i.e. job, income level, where you live, education level, etc.) I begin using a more humble tone on those subjects.

Since we're here to improve, I'll offer some advice which may be helpful, or may be useless. I don't know you, so really who knows.
Consider eliminating "just" from your vocabulary. You don't have to explain yourself to anybody.
Also, consider eliminating "if you don't mind me asking..." You don't need permission to ask a question, just ask it.
I'm assuming a lot here, but based on the language you use, you seem like a nice guy to me. Doesn't step on a lot of toes. Now some people will tell you that you can't be a nice guy and succeed at this business of pickup. You've gotta be a "bad boy." Well that's a load of horse shit. But you do need to be assertive, which means at a minimum standing up for your damn rights, and talking/acting like you believe you have some damn rights.
