unless you literally live in the sticks with nothing for miles there is always something to do within about 5 miles of you. that is a 10 minute bicycle ride. I live in east Plano so while you would think there isn't much there is tons of things to do.
Check bars and restaurants with bars near you. Look for events they are holding like Karaoke, poker night and so on. Go to the events and make friends. Local bars cater to local people so the people you meet live near by. Start hanging out at their places and doing things with them.
I have been going to plano super bowl and doing Karaoke. I get invited to hang out at peoples places, on their boats and go to their parties. It's all in walking distance. When you get invited to their parties, they generally foot the bill.

I have one, count it, one, bar near me within 5 miles. And it's a hole in the wall, where all the OLD locals go to sit and complain about their wives type of place. I live in Red Oak.
The only other thing I can think of is to go to church. I'm not really looking to drink, but don't take that as me counting a bar out. I know there are other things to do at bars..
Anybody know any free ways to fish, hunt, garden, or anything? Gardening is a passive hobby I'm already doing, but I've been on this whole "I want to be self-sufficient kick" lately. Anybody have any ideas I could do to be proactive with that?
oh oh oh... I have rabbits running around.... Anyone know how to trap?
