First real sarge ever on Saturday. Whoop.

Okay so no closes, but no bigs. I'm just starting this. I'll get it eventually, I know it. I'll get this shit on lock. I feel it in my veins. I feel the burnnn.

It started off at the mall with Urban Legend and Matrix. AA kicked in big time. I ended up complimenting a girl on her shoes and another girl on her shoes ("they remind me of cinnamon" (they were red)). One thing I've realized is that I'm pretty good at coming up with openers. I just get nervous as shit when I go and try and deliver them. I'm working on it.

Then it was to a 18+ bar with Urban Legend. I opened up a 2 set pretty easily. They actually laughed pretty hard at my opener, then laughed even harder after I introduced myself right after. I think it's because it looked try-hard, maybe? But then I told one of them that I thought she was cute and that's the reason why I came over. We exchanged names and I didn't know what else to say so I went quickly to get Urban Legend. I introduced them, then I told one of the girls I wanted to dance with her, and she looked at me and said, "does this usually work?" Hahaha. I said "all the time" while laughing. Anyway, she said she would dance if more people were on the dance floor. I complimented a chubby girl on her dress, she said, "thanks! I like your outfit!" I did look pretty damn fly. I also carried conversation with a couple sets that Urban opened.

What a day Saturday was. No offense to Urban/Matrix at all, he's a cool guy, but I can't wait until I'm 21 and I get to sarge with the others. I turn 21 in a couple months, and hopefully by then, I will have improved a good amount.

I don't recommend telling a girl she is cute/hot. Reason being is because there were 53 chumps before you who told her the same thing whom she most likely turned down. You need to set yourself apart from those "other" guys. Complimenting her on her looks puts her on a pedastal, does nothing for your game, and pretty much makes her think you're as retarded as all the others who came before. Complimenting a girl on her looks might work on a fat girl, but not a HB8 or higher.
Next time if you must compliment her looks say something like.........you're a tiny bit cute but I'd need to be convinced by your personality to know for sure because I'm deeper than that. This statement says you are interested in more than her looks, and by doing so will raise your value in her eyes. It also sets her up to demonstrate her value. I like to tell them I am going to run a background check on them. Make hoops for those silly hookers to jump through.

WE are the prize, not THEM.

I don't really agree with what was said here.
I think he had realistic goals, such as "I am just going to opne".
"Hey you're cute/Hey nice dress/etc." does the job of opening.
This one girl even said "I like the way you're dressed too!" and after she told him that I told her he should have stayed to talk, that seemed like an IOI to me.
Going direct may not be the best path for some people, but for others it works.
I do agree with the last thing you said tho :)

In the general sense complimenting goes against the stream.

Now on the other hand going direct can work. I pretty much run direct game these days. I still mix in a shit load of indirect but I have pulled some of my hotter girls by going direct.

Find what works for YOU.

UH's advice is very valid. True he might have just had the goal of opening. BUUUUUUT...open with something else other than, "Hi, you're hot." That will put you in a habit of always doing that. It's better to get used to opening and getting over AA by saying random ass shit over complimenting her looks. "Hey. I have a super nintendo in my pants. Mario just hit a 1UP." is WAAAYYY better for getting over AA and getting used to saying anything to strangers than, "I came over here to talk to you because I think you're cute." To get over one bad habit, you don't want to create another.

Be mindful of the advice you're throwing out if you're not 100% sure it's useful.

It really depends on situation. That night was okay to go direct because it was a SMU appreciation night. A lot of the girls don't get hit on because it is a cliquish environment and a lot of people know each other bc the school is kind of small. You barely see non-smu folks

I probably should have mentioned that I opened that 2 set with just pointing at one of the girls and saying "dude", then I paused a little bit to get her attention, and said, "I have that same exact outfit at home, but I look wayy better in it." This is what caused them to laugh so hard, because almost right after it, I introduced myself. After she gave me her name, I then said, "I'm not going to lie, I don't actually have that outfit, I just thought you were cute and wanted to come here to talk to you" or something along those lines.

I remember I went to South Padre with a bunch of friends over spring break and my opener over there was, "my favorite cereal is lucky charms. What's yours?" It worked the first time, but after that, I don't know, it just didn't stick. I definitely said it differently the first time. One girl asked, "why are you asking that?" And I responded with, "because it's the most important meal of the day, duh."

I understand that you can say anything, I just gotta feel it.
