taboo conversation subjects

Postby Guest » Wed Nov 19, 2008 1:19 pm

I have read in many places, don't talk to girls about politics, religion, and bad relationships. I'm sure there are many other topics to avoid. I want to know though, why is it that we are told to avoid talking about these subjects?

these subjects are 'taboo' because the opinions/beliefs on them can escalate negatively if your opinion differs from their own. confronting a girls upbringing and internal belief system causes defensive actions/reactions.

Many people have a tough time dealing with controversy and there can be a lot of negative thoughts attached to these topics. Politics and religion can be very controversial and usually people are deeply rooted with their viewpoints.

I'd definitely avoid discussing bad relationships with a "new" girl because you want to bring out fun and happy emotions in her. Talking about bad relationships doesn't exactly promote positive emotions.

You want to discuss topics that help generate "positive energy", this will help create attraction and politics/religion/bad relationships don't have that same effect.

I had a girl start asking me about my divorce and it pretty much deflated me. I tried not to let it happen. She saw the unhappiness all over my face, then proceeded to tell me I wasn't ready for a relationship!

religion and politics are usually not good casual conversation even in mixed settings based on reasons mentioned above.

and it can go other way too. Right before election i was on a date and she wanted to talk election/politics cause she "had a political science degree and enjoyed discussing politics"

What she had to say pretty much completely turned me off and never saw her again. :)

If it's just talking about early on I guess I can agree with that. However I think that politics and religion are a great way to get to know what someone really believes and who they are on a deeper level as a person. I talk about these topics all the time with women I know and even disagree with what they have to say many times. The thing about it is though is I approach it without judging them for having their beliefs. I think because of this it actually deepens the connection with the girl pretty significantly. If one knows how to listen correctly and speak in an open minded way I think these topics are a great way to provoke peoples passions. I reward women for this great passion that they have not the actual issues they speak of and I have great success with these so called taboo subjects.

In regards to those of you that said talking about politics, religion can be very negative.. well sure it can be, but isn't it your choice as the leader of the conversation of what to focus on? I lead my conversations on these topics in positive directions a decent amount of the time. Maybe its just me, but I have had a good amount of success with topics like these even with girls that some would consider ditzy. Most people have surprised me on what they actually know. I know many girls that just put on a ditzy girl act because they think it pleases guys that are actually extremely intelligent and articulate when the need arises. Invoking this side of these girls is something that everyone who avoids these topics never gets to do and youd be amazed how much a girl will respect you for letting her express her passions and views without judging her for them.

I guess it works for me because I am somewhat of a skeptic. I am very open minded because really there is no way that we can know that we are absolutely correct on our beliefs, all we can do is gather evidence to support what we think we believe.

For example if I said that there were green penguins in this world it would be very difficult for you to prove to me that green penguins don't exist, but if there was randomly found one green penguin your whole arguement would be shattered.

It can greatly influence the tone of the interaction, and it's definitely more deep, and less fun or flirty, which may or may not be what you want. I generally do well with the deeper stuff.

It depends a lot on the personalities involved. So calibrate yourself for what you are up against and have the kind of conversation that feels most natural. There are no set rules to this game. Definitely being open minded and a willingness to relate to alternative viewpoints will help to ensure a successful conversation with these "taboo" topics. If your personality is not that way, then I wouldn't recommend these topics in the early stages.

Just take a look at some of the personalities on this board who have difficulties discussing "taboo" topics that pop up on this forum! lol ;-)

90% of the methodologies and material out there focuses solely on the initial interaction. Ya know, during this phase and that phase when you're supposed to be making "fuck me" eyes and escalating your kino to coerce her in to isolation and then onward to sex location. These taboo subjects aren't so taboo that you are supposed to be PROHIBITED from talking about them...just not right off the f'ing bat. You get to know a girl long enough, you can talk to her about anything...except her bowel movements...girls don't poop.

The fact is that there are certain subjects that are best to shy away from initially. But, more than subject matter you need to understand that enthusiasm, emotion, and frequency can also turn normal subjects into ones with the feel of taboo subjects.

An example, and it's been about a year or so, but it highlights the above perfectly. I met a girl that turned out to be a former fat ug. I did not know this when we first met, not that it would have made any difference. Anyway, this girl was pretty hot. Probably one of the hotter chicks that I've pulled. Brunette, thin, nice body, FAKE tits.

Anyway, at our day2 she kept referring to her 'twins' and said that she was drinking her dinner and that she did, and I quote:

HBInsecure: "I did like 600 crunches over the last two days."
Me: "What's a 'crunch'?" Air quotes and all...
HBInsecure: "Seriously...here, feel my abs."
Me: "What does touching your abs have to do with 'crunches'?" Again with the air quotes.

Then she told me about how she lost weight and how hot guys tell her she is now and how she went from a B to a D and blah blah blah.

I mean, I commend her for changing her life. I've done the same, at one point I lost like 90 lbs, so I understand the pride associated with such a change. But Christ I don't drone on and on about it. Sure, I mention it a lot, but I don't talk about it with the frequency and voracity that she did.

The point is that more she talked about health and fitness, the more annoyed I got with her. She basically turned an acceptable conversation into one that had the feeling of a taboo conversation.

The 'twins,' however did not deter me from closing the deal. If it weren't for that, I would have walked...
