Balance and Resources

Postby BluesCluesPUA » Tue Apr 03, 2007 2:08 pm

I realized something over the past few weeks that I'd like to share with everyone. Especially those who are very new to pickup. It has to do with the type of material I've been studying, how I've been trying to internalize it, and how I've failed to maintain a balance in the knowledge I seek.

I read a lot: Style, Mystery, Juggler, DD, whatever NLP I can get my hands on, etc. I realize now that I take in so much more information about pickup than I can possibly internalize in the time I'm reading it. I'll find new material, read it, and be onto a new book before I've had a chance to use what I learned. In a sense, that's a good thing: it's about maintaining a balanced life and having better things to do than pickup. On the other hand, it means that I don't have a chance to internalize all the things I've learned. A few weeks ago, I actually had to ban myself from getting on the forums or reading any PUA literature so I'd have time to run some game and catch up with myself.

In these couple weeks where I wasn't reading PUA material, I checked out the resource section (http://www.dallaspua.com/resources.htm) and started scratching things off that list one by one. What I found was that it was much easier to work on new elements of my game when I stopped reading all the PUA literature for a while. It allowed me to tighten my game with the pickup knowledge I already have without cramming in new pickup knowledge at the same time. Focusing on things like psychology, persuasion, hypnosis, tricks, and inner game really allowed me to break through a couple sticking points.

So my suggestion to people who feel like they're "falling behind", and especially to keyboard jockeys who have never gotten started, is to stop making the game about reading as much seduction material as you can and realize that it all comes from inside. Read about the things that you can internalize and use for yourself - like knowledge about psychology or how to increase your confidence - and the pickup will follow much more naturally. I go to Half Price Books and browse the psychology section: I've found great material on body language, storytelling, and all sorts of stuff that is directly applicable to pickup yet will also serve you well in all areas of your life.

I suggest that anyone who hasn't already go check out the DallasPUA resource section. Style also has a few books he recommends. I'm working my way through Mastering Your Hidden Self: A Guide to the Huna Way by Serge King, and I highly recommend it.

Take from this post the importance of maintaining a balance between these types of knowledge and the benefit of having both.

Mastering Your Hidden Self: A Guide to the Huna Way by Serge King is a good book. Using a pendulum and weight to talk to the subconcious mind is an excellent comforting routine I like to do that I got from the book. Explaining the esoteric roots and spirituality of the method is quite interesting to females.

I am going through Mastering Your Inner Self right now as well. The writing is brilliant and puts a lot of things in perspective. I would also recommend this book to anyone...
