Are most people socially awkward?

Ok, here is an observation I have just come to, so bare with me on this.

Well, I am sure most of us have gotten into the community because we need work on our social skills, well, we at least want better social skills, am I right? I know I have really bad AA, and anytime I am about to go to a new place or talk to a stranger I get very nervous, fast heart rate, shaky hands (shaky legs sometimes too). It is bad. But I think I may have realized something today. Most people suck at social skills, they are afraid of the unknown, and I actually feel like I am making progress.

I am in a college speech class. Most of the people in there are too afraid to give their speeches. They just quit and don't even try. And if they do try, they quit like half way in and say how nervous they are.

I was talking to a friend the other day, and he was saying how when he is off of work and there is no one to hang out with, he gets bored. So, he prefers not to go without working too long. I told him to just go to a random place like the mall and talk to random people about random shit. He said he could never do that, that it is too scary.

How about an elevator. Have you ever been in an elevator? You know when you go inside the elevator that everyone just stands there...staring. There is an awkward silence. People will rarely break this awkward silence.

The first day of class in college. There are a ton of empty chairs, and no one sits next to anyone else unless they know them already. Seems like everyone sits as far away from each other as possible.

Why is this? Are most people anti-social? Are most people just afraid of social situations? Everyone seems to forget that everyone that they know...be it friend, girlfriend, or whatever, that person was once a stranger too.

I don't know. But I feel like I am learning a skill that very few people have. When I open a girl (I am only at the skill set of opening right now, no attract or closes on cold approach yet) and get them talking and laughing, it feels great. I had the balls to do something most people wouldn't be able to do. The disaster scenario wasn't real, she didn't call her bf over and have him beat me up with a plastic barbie bat that was wrapped in colored construction paper that was dipped in cool whip. She just stood there and talked to me.

So, I plan on diving into this hardcore. Like 5-7 days a week working on day game cold approaches. I have been out with Acuity a few times and he is a great motivation. Hope to sarge with him a lot more.

But I guess the point of this rant was that most people really do suck socially...and its not just (the former)me.

i've read that there was a study about this and it actually causes MORE physiological stress responses in people trying to avoid interacting with the other people than those who acknowledged the other people.

I'm torn in this via Plato's cave. Is this all really the way it works? Am I being unnatural and training myself to make this the norm? Are there really only like 4-guys out there who women are interested in, and can I / am I one of them?

Maybe I'm bipolar, but sometimes I love myself, and sometimes I'm embarrassed of myself. In the town I'm in now though, I'm officially afraid of all the roid hounds and rednecks here, and I'm ready to go somewhere civilized. I could kill in this town if it weren't for the rednecks waiting to kill me constantly.

I think its social anxiety plus the fact that a lot of people are just boring and don't have a lot to say or require you to say something that gets them going or catch them in the right mood.

I'm surprised so many people quit in the middle of a speech.

I've only seen that once, in middleschool.

This kid got up in front of the class and you could tell he was nervous. He started off by stammering...

Mah Mah My rrr-reeport is on the aa-armadillo.

The... the arm-mmadillo lives in south ameri-CAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! He started crying and ran right out of the room.
