Out of town adventure

I'm not big on FRs, but I thought this adventure epitomized everything good in the community that I've assimilated over my time, so i wanted to share.

A little preface: The past few years i've really slacked on myself due to a combination of life's things...more responsibility at work, home, age, etc, and really let the physique slide. All the recent talk on the board, got me motivated to get my ass in gear gym wise. I joined a gym closer to my house since i didn't have the time to get to my further away gym anymore.

Point of that was, I had about 1-2 weeks going hardcore back in the gym(not a noob) and was back feeling GREAT and I had a week off recently. There's something to the inertia, bodies in motion tend to stay in motion.... I had plans later in the vacation week for a trip, but the early part of the week i was just going to get R&R around the house. Well, getting back in the gym, the extra energy, I said the hell w/ that.

To the FR:

The week before i decided to book a spur of moment trip to a scenic destination/resort town out west where i had wanted to go to do some photography(a hobby of mine). I booked the ticket. Fly out 1 day...explore...go out that night, and fly back the next day, all on my own.

I fly out, get in my rental car, and head out on my road trip to destination X. Let me tell ya, it can be a very free feeling to do whatever the hell you want, when you want, and just go with your mood. I pull into town, do my tourist thing, head to hotel, and find out the local hotspot for that night and head to the venue.

I roll into the popular nightspot on that night(happened to be a country music spot w/ outside bar/stage. Happens to get frequented by hollywood celebs when they are in town at their vacation homes, unfortunately none the night I was there). I roll in w/ my dallas, rocker look, and clearly i'm 'not from 'round these parts', and I see a girl up at the bar talking with the bartender who she's friends with turns out, and who i'm really diggin. Head up to bar, open bartender and then i'm in with the solo girl (at the time, all her friends came later)

They are very curious as to why solo guy is here, want to know what the deal is, so i let them know i'm on a 1 day photography adventure trip which they love(and i genuinely was). I get uber DHV for the fact that i picked up and went somewhere on my own, not knowing anyone.(DHV for adventurous solo spirit) as we talk, she tells me guys in this town don't have bounderies when picking up girls. I draw a line in the dirt/gravel and tell her thats MY boundary and she better not cross it. She jumps across, kino's me...and it's on from that point :)

I'm getting ALOT of looks from guys and girls since it's a very close knit community, and wondering who the outsider is. I get approached by a guy and opened with "i want to know who the biggest guy is in case anything goes down" and he buys me a drink. We shoot the shit and I reciprocate buying round for us. Turns out he's a big time real estate developer w/ a vacation home in town.(more on that later). This guy social proofs me, and all of a sudden a bunch of people are up wanting to know my stories,etc..and again i get huge DHV for taking a solo trip out of town(personally i'm not sure why that's such a big deal!) I've left my girl and now established the social circle where the bar owner and others are surrounding me. Off and on I return back to my girl and show willingness to walk away. At one point i see her get visibly upset cause she asks the bartender where i am and they thought i left w/o saying anything. ;)

The real estate developer invites me to after party at his house. Turns out this is a 5000+ sq ft vacation home that is incredible. I invite my girl and her friends. A grammy award winning producer shows up, some big time lawyers in the town, the bar owner, the music act from the venue.... I find myself at a VERY well social proofed after party in my first night in town. very cool.

After hanging at the party, it's clear it's time to extract. As we leave, i get a tough guy cowboy friend(who I had befriended earlier at the bar, but was alot more drunk by now) comes up and tell me "i'll smash you if you hurt her" and doing some posturing(since i find out later he digs her...). I diffuse that situation w/o escalation(no need) and extract back to my hotel for the night.

This girl and I really had an incredible connection and I'm hoping actually I can get her into town for a visit.

Reflecting back on the night, it was interesting to see how getting your act together, getting moving, taking some risks, looking for some adventure, building that social proof,some classic push/pull, led to a very memorable adventure for me. At no point was i ever 'running game', everything fell together perfect.
