You kill them but they just keep comming back to life...

Sometimes I am amazed at how things can turn around and a set that has previously been brutally shot, thrown under a bus, and incenerated by my sometimes "abrassive" personality or lack of social tact can come back to life.

One set in particular comes to mind. We had a mediocre day 2, and then I got busy and didnt call/txt for a while. eventually I said I was deleting her number, something I do when I next a girl. She bitched me out about how shitty the day 2 went, how going dutch and a bu nch of other things is "no way to impress a woman" and how I can email her if I want to learn how to talk to women...

Then I talked to her on the phone, pointed out that I wasnt trying to impress her, merely determine if she was worthy of dating. I patched things up and then "broke rapport" a little too much. She ended up telling me to delete her number.

WF: Cool, you keep my number though, and give me a call when you lose a few pounds.

Then I lose my p hone at the zoo and have my personal assistant go though my call history log and call everyone to get their names back in my phone. (still don't have all of you guys back btw)

When she called this girl, she explained the situation and the girl asked her not to put her number in the phone and just delete it because she doesn't want to talk to me. My PA then jumped the gun and read a pre-approved script I had instructed her to use in such a situation...

PA: Okay, I'll save your number as "Bitchzilla" then.

Of course that was a joke, but my PA thought I really wanted her to say that if a girl was bitchy. She told me about this, which presented a challenge.

My mindset is that no set is unrecoverable--there is no point of no return, unless like I die (but even in this case, Im pretty sure Ill just rise again 3 days later)

So I call her a few days later. *heavy comfort building*

WF: I'm sorry to bother you (this is gold btw) but I lost all my contacts in my phone and I noticed you are in my call history, which means we must have talked at some point in the past. We talked for about 20 minutes before she even told me who she was. Finally I told her, I really enjoy talking to you but I dont recall who you are.

She was hestinate to tell me because she was worried I wouldnt want to talk to her or be rude again. We talked for another 10 minutes and she really warmed up. She actually said she was thinking about sending me an email thinking that it might have been an evil ex that called her and I was locked up in a basement (she was joking)... I told her if I were locked in a basement, but my captivies gave me internet access, I wouldnt mind so much.

Then I talked about being her sex slave and what benifits she would give me if I stayed in her basement. 401k and dental...I'm listening...

We text back and forth a few times, and then I call her and we talk for nearly 2 hours, and a lot of the time she is sexually qualifying to me and laughing uncontrollablly. Things develop further and the rest is history, but my point is, you can recover from pretty much anything.

WF: Sorry I gave you AIDS.

Well, maybe not everything....but you can always come back--its never over.

Anyone else recovered a set from life-support?

I dont think so--she was still bitch when my PA called. I think it was the politeness. I could kinda tell when she answered t hat she wasn't in a good mood.

I came in with higher energy, a happy sounding tone, and polite.

Most who know me know that I am a giant asshole. So this was very much a contrast (think push/pull). Also, by being polite you put social pressure on the other person to be so as well. If I'm polite and she is rude to me, then she is the one violating the social norms and being unkind.

I also had to plow though a little bit before she warmed up. It was hard for her not to smile when I told her I lost my phone at the zoo...and that I'm worried that somewhere a chimp was making long distance calls using up my airtime...

This girl, btw, has some very unique and rare qualities I find attractive in women. I would consider her GF material if not for a few things that disqualify her from that prestigious position.
