I met up with DevTheDude from the forum last night in Addison to do some sarging. First place we went was Humperdink's on Belt Line. The place was packed because they had the fight, but it was mainly meatheads and everyone was pretty intensely watching the fight so we bounced from that location pretty much immediately.
We had some trouble getting into the rest of the places in Addison so we headed down town looking for a better club type environment. Another bust. We couldn't get in any place there either, but we refused to let the night be a total bust and started talking to girls on the street outside the clubs.
I opened two sets, each of them two sets, both pretty unintimidating in the looks department, and went straight into a story about how one of my friends just got caught cheating on his fiancee and she called off the wedding and now they're fighting about who gets to keep the ring. I end with "he does, because it's his money right" thinking I'll get some fun disagreement but it didn't work like I thought. The responses were pretty dull and boring but our presence was well received so each time the four us had some very short lived small talk and then we left. Bingo! FIrst sticking point indentified: I NEED TO BECOME A BETTER CONVERSATIONALIST! DevTheDue and I talk about how to be more conversational on the drive back to Addison and then decide to drop back by Humperdink's right before closing time.
The bar is dead, but there is one two set of business looking hispanic ladies sipping red wine. I ask Dev if he wants to approach them and he's like "alright, but this is going to be super awkward so be ready to leave fast". I'm like Ok, so he approaches, and to the contrary...THEY WANT TO TALK! I'll let him pick up the story from here.
Meeting up with someone else who's new to the game to talk a little bit about the game and make a couple approaches helped me a ton. Can't wait to get back out there and practice a bit more.
