Halloween costume

I always enjoy wearing some kind of prop, costume, etc. which is a conversation starter and has woman coming to approach me. Halloween is always the best time of year for that obviously. I am at Sherlocks dressed as Hugh Hefner for Halloween. For some odd and strange reason a man walks up to me and points to a girl and says "that girl wants to talk to you." So of course I walk straight over to her, tell her that "your friend said you wanted to talk to me." All she says is "I just wanted to say you look nice in red." I thanked her and tried to create small talk. The whole time her facial and body expression never changed and she told me that the guy who told me to speak to her is her boyfriend. Anyone have a possible explanation regarding that odd scenario.
