STEP 1: Download the IRC Client
Go to http://www.xchat.org, click 'Download XChat'
I picked this client because of the easy to read layout when you are multiple channels/servers. If you prefer something else, then you don't need this howto : P
STEP 2: INSTALL
Double-click the following icon to install the client. Once open you'll have to click in the following sequence to successfully install the program.
Next > Next > Next > Install > Next > Finish
STEP 3: START PROGRAM
Once complete, double-click the Orange X icon.
STEP 4: SETUP THE NETWORK
This is the next window you will see.
Type in your preferred nickname and alternates. Lets try to keep it the same as your Forum Name, to make it easier on all of us.
Scroll down to 'FreeNode' in the network list and click 'Edit...'
STEP 5: EDIT FREENODE
Put a check in the box next to 'Auto connect to this network at startup.'
Type
#dallaspua artist
in the channels to join field, then click 'Close.'
Now, click 'Connect.'
STEP 6: CHAT YOUR LITTLE HEART AWAY
