I agree with lion 100000000%. He is right. This is not a study on dating or what is desired in a long term mate. It's a debate on which body types women prefer; six pack abs or no six pack.
I understand that there is preference involved, but generally speaking, women prefer men with a six pack. There's no arguing that. There is a reason why women's objects of desire (Calendar models, runway models, etc.) more often than not, all have six packs.
You don't see a cLendar with fat guys do you?
There's a difference between a fat guy and a fit guy who doesn't have extreme definition in his abs.
The qualities that Grimm mentioned are all valued to a degree. For example, women like tall men. However, women are more likely to find a 6'2" man more attractive than a 7'6" man. In the same sense, women are more likely to be attracted to Sawyer from Lost than a professional body builder. I have never met a woman who gets turned on by looking at professional body builders. I know they're out there, but they're the exception, not the rule.
For some reason there is a perception that caring about how you look is a feminine trait. I truly believe women love a guy who looks great without trying too hard. That's why messy hair is a popular style. Having ripped abs falls into that category. If you go too far to the extreme, it could possibly work against you.
