Fun things to do around Dallas

Postby BluesCluesPUA » Fri Jul 27, 2007 2:57 am

I got this idea from the Austin forum and thought it would be cool to start up a list of fun things to do in Dallas. Having a good solid bunch of these will be valuable for all of us since it will in turn help us demonstrate value. I'd like this to become more than just a list of bars and clubs: that's one fun thing to do. Let's get a little thread of different things to do. Let's also specify for each one if there are any age restrictions or important things to know about going there. Anybody wanna start it off?

It sounds dumb, but taking chicks to Ikea is crazy fun. I think Sean on one of David D's programs is where I heard the idea. There is just so much to play around with and roleplay in the store it is crazy. Sometimes I'll bring two nerf guns with me and things will really get out of hand. I used to take chicks to Pocket Sandwich Theater, it is pretty cool. Throw popcorn at the bad guys comedy theater type place.

I really don’t take women I haven’t had sex with out anymore, and after sex (as long as you’re good ~) you can pretty much do whatever you want. I just go for the direct, you should cook me dinner, or come over I am going to cook for you. Personally, I have this killer homemade spaghetti, but you can just get chicken breasts, spuds and a box of frozen veggies. I am consistently surprised at how low women’s standards actually are.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge. It is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert this or that; and that problem will never be solved by science.

I recommend the Dallas Museum of Art on the third Friday of the month. I know we have meets on those nights, but one of these times I want to sarge the museum after the meeting. They're open until midnight, I think, so a bounce is inevitible. But the place is packed with artsy girls. They have bands and coffee, so it's a very social atmosphere.

One thing we should try to do is get a volleyball, softball, or flag football thing going. If we can get a good mix of guys and girls to meet every Saturday, for example, then there's a great excuse for a day2. It's fun and physical (adrenaline rush). And it's completely natural to go out for a few beers afterward.

Rhody, man, that volleyball idea is money. There's a great place in Coppell called Lonestar. You may have heard of it. No cover, and beautiful sand with tons of courts. It's a great excuse to get girls into their bathing suits for hot tubbing afterwards. The social atmosphere is great on Thu-Sat nights so let's do it!

Main Event is great. It's open to everyone until 10pm, at which time it is 18+. They serve alcohol and have bowling, pool, food, video games, laser tag, and some other fun stuff. They also have awesome Monday/Tuesday specials.

Taking the DART is also fun. I like to get a small group together and take a train somewhere, but it's cool 1-on-1 also. A lot of people have never taken public transportation, so it can be a bit of an adventure to be out and about without having your car and all your crap with you. The website gives a full list of attractions and interesting things along the various stops and also tells you where you can get a discount by showing your ticket. It can be romantic if you do it right, just make sure you know the scheduling and everything in advance - nothing makes you look like more of a tool than taking her on the wrong train or missing the last one and stranding yourselves somewhere.

I have a routine I use that's never failed to get panties off... I take then for a short flight to an airport about 40 minutes away and land about 90 minutes before sunset... we have a nice dinner, and then on the way back... whaddayaknow... sunset over the clouds. It's breathtaking. It's inspiring.

I second the whole Ikea thing, although I usually went to the funiture district... again, meet for drinks or a meal someplace close by, and then walk around through different stores and future plan about how you would furnish your mansion together.

Anything that smacks of a high society thing is money also. "I'm taking you to the symphony... do you have an evening gown?" If they don't, believe me they will by tomorrow.

Another thing that used to work well when I had a motorcycle was putting them on the back and give them a backpack with a nice little picnic lunch... find a big open field that has some privacy... I've gotten a ton of openfield pussy that way. Even better, combine it with something else I've never tried, but I think would be awesome: go shopping together to get the picnic. So many opportunities to role play.
The four agreements:
1. Be impeccable with your words and deeds.
2. Never take anything personally.
3. Never make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.

Hey guys,

Actually I'd really love to show this girl something really cool when I'm there.

Taking the lead and showing her something she's not seen.

She lives in fortworth, and I won't have a car, having said that she will have.

What I'd love is something really different that I could show her.

In England I would take her out to celelbrity party bashes, or to restaurants that where different or quirky one way or another, having said that I don't know where she has or hasn't been already.

Some posh restaurant outside of Fortworth may be a good bet as although she's quite rich her Mum and Dad are in Chicago.

Fort Worth Events

Postby Pylon8 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 1:02 pm

Fort Worth is like Austin except that nobody knows it. There's lots of fun stuff over here, but the really cool stuff is never that crowded, who knows why. Here's your list, though.

Sunday nights--(1) Jazz at 6th Street Live is incredible. Starts at 10ish, but the band doesn't really "find the song" until around 10:30, so be prepared to sit through some ho-hum music until then. (2) Open mic at the White Elephant. Good old boy country. Candlelit--no joke. (3) Woody's Tavern or Jack's Off the Wall.

Monday--(1) 2.50 pints at the Flying Saucer. Show up early and get a table. Bring laptop and surf Wikipedia's unusual articles with her. (They have wine, too.) (2) Fred's Texas shows old westerns outside around sunset. Call ahead to see. It's byob liquor for a bottle charge, so bring something cool to drink.

Tuesday--Guitar circle at MacHenry's. Best date ever. Plan to stay for an hour or so. Bunch of 40-year-old dudes singing love songs to each other.

Wednesday--(1) Free day at the Modern. (2) Summer concert series at 8.0's (get there early!)

Thursday--I never go on dates on Thursday.

Friday--Magnolia at the Modern

Saturday--Ditto

Fort Worth Restaurants

Postby Pylon8 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 1:16 pm

Three Tex-Mex gems: La Familia, Uncle Julio's, and Tres Jose's.

The Covey--it's a brewery with crazy-good beer and good food

Bistro Louise--Pricey, but Louise was on the short list for White House
Chef. Consistently rated as best restaurant in North Texas.

Central Market--Live music on Th., Fri., Sat.

Rocco's Pizza--best pizza on the planet. Yes, I've been to Ray's in NYC, and Rocco's is better.

Pirhanna's--Great sushi and appetizers. Make reservations days in advance!

La Taverna--also good pizza

Phat Dat--they don't speak English. Great seafood, but adventurous.

Cafe Cholula--authentic Mexican. No English.

Blue Mesa Grill--lots of fun.

Sezchuan--Only good Chinese in Fort Worth

Escargot--Get dessert to go and eat it on the lawn of the Kimbell

Michael's--just go for dessert, but the paintings are incredible!

Eurotazza--Coffee shop with a bake case by Bistro Louise

Off the Bone--Best barbecue this side of Memphis. (Hidden on Business 287.)

Kalachandji's--It's in Dallas, but you'll be able to talk her into it. It's vegan Indian food served in a Hare Krishna temple (they won't try to convert you), so it feels like you're in an Indiana Jones movie. There's an enclosed atrium with a fountain and a single tree wrapped in yellow string lights. The temple is in the middle of a neighborhood north of Fair Park for some reason, but that just makes it better.

Babe's in Burleson--Built like a Disney attraction w/ an indoor city facade.

Kincaid's burgers--best hamburgers on earth, right next to a haunted saloon.

What a girl showed me recently, that I really enjoyed, is to go to a book store where there's good seating and coffee. We went and picked out books that we wanted to look at and sat down at the tables in Borders.

She had many books about modern art and was showing me the differences in male and female graffiti. I picked out astronomy, astrology, and body language books. The idea is just anything that you can show the other person and have a good time discussing.
