Last year when all I knew was the gimicky opinion opener shit I used this opener several times with great success. I remembered it because I was giving my buddy advice on what to say. It is very simple and I have yet to get blown out using it.

When approaching a girl or a group I would say. "I have a question for you. What did you buy your boyfriend(s) for Valentines Day?"

The brilliance of it is that a lot of times an instant ioi happens when she responds "I don't have a boyfriend." while smiling. There are also easy conversation threads built into it. If she replies telling you about an extravant gift she bought you can sarcastically say "Where do I meet a girl like you?" and keep plowing to see if she really does. A lot of times she will immediately start qualifying by saying how good she would treat a guy if she had one etc. It also gives you an easy chance to illicit your values and say "I've always wished a girl would just..."
