First of all - chemistry. Chemistry would be an issue if an old white guy in a tie had assembled this team. But we all know that THE PLAYERS assembled this team themselves. Bosh, Wade, and James assembled it, because they're friends. There won't be chemistry issues, especially if they are winning. If anything, I think chemistry will be the biggest reason this team succeeds. This team will have fun playing together. They will toy with other teams. And the more people hate them, I predict, the better they will play together.
Second of all - that's bullshit that James wouldn't be a champion if he won with the Heat. You think it's easy to win the NBA championship? You said it yourself - the Lakers, Celtics, and Magic... and I would throw the Bulls in there too now, all are very strong teams that could knock the Heat off. I just don't think they will.
Finally, let's get over this attitude that James "owed" the Cavs or the city of Cleveland anything. He was an employee of the Cavs, his contract was up, and he pursued a better option. That's like saying if you don't succeed with your current employer and find a job somewhere else, you're suddenly selling out. Sorry, no, and frankly BullRun I'm surprised to see you with this collectivist mentality instead of standing up for the individual as any good American should be doing. (Ha that was snarky!)

Don't get me wrong dude, I think LeBron had every right to leave the Cavs. Good for him for doing what he wanted to do, I just think he could have done so with a lot more class and a lot more dignity. Especially to a sports town that has had so many fucked up things happen to them over the years: Browns leaving, The Drive, The Shot, and now The Decision.
As for being a champion, LeBron doesn't have HIS team much the same way that the greats had THEIR team. As such, any championship he wins with his team won't be as meaningful as one that he would win with HIS team. I would say the same of Jordan if he bolted HIS team to join a 'loaded' team. If he won his championships while playing with Barkley and Ewing, then I would definitely think much less of his accomplishments. That's one of the defining characteristics of a champion: can they carry their team to the promised land? Barkley couldn't, Ewing couldn't...these guys were superstars but not champions in the way that Jordan was/is. By bolting to the Heat, LeBron will never get the opportunity to prove that he belongs in the same breathe as Jordan (unless Wade and Bosh get injured and LeBron carries the team from there). That's all I'm saying, I think he sold himself short...
I don't doubt these guys will have great chemistry. What I do doubt, however, is if any of these guys will do the things that are required to actually win a championship. The things they don't have stats for, the things that no one gets accolades for, the dirty things that have no glory. Which of these three are ever going to actually risk themselves to get a loose ball with less than a minute on the clock? None. So, who's going to do so?
I don't doubt the Heat will be good. And, I think they're a lock to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. But, I'm not convinced they'll have the roster filled with players that will do the intangibles to turn you from a great team into a championship team. Obviously, this is why they play the games...

Alright, I can get behind that a little better but still a few things.
Michael Jordan is probably the greatest athlete in the history of American sports. A guy like him comes in to some sport somewhere in the world once every generation. Lebron James is no MJ, and the fact is that basketball may never have another MJ. So I think that's an unfair bar to set. Lebron is a great player though. He's already at the Barkley level to me, and depending on how many rings he wins his legacy will rise from there, but even if he wins 10 rings it will be unfair to compare him to Jordan. It would have been more impressive to win with the Cavs, but there's no shame in the fact that he couldn't. Maybe Jordan could have, maybe not. I can't think of anyone else who could have...not Bird, Magic, Kobe, anybody.
"The Decision" on ESPN was classless, BUT that was over-shadowed by the Cavs owner's totally classless "letter to the fans" in my mind.

Oh yeah, I have one more comment...and that's about the fans. In Miami, we were always accused of being "fair weather," it happened to us when I was at the U, it happened to the Dolphins, and it's happening now to the heat.
I think it just shows how beta the average cleveland sports fan is or how alpha the average miami or dallas fan are in comparison. Lebron was basically worshipped out in Cleveland - that will never happen in MIA. People will ride the emotional wave of having a champion in town to get behind, because that's fun, but they're not gonna get all weird like Cleveland fans. They might see it as fair weather, I see it as having a life. A much healthier outlook.
