"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Ben Franklin

A government big enough to give you everything you need, is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas Jefferson

I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpation s. --James Madison

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. --Thomas Jefferson

That is all for now.

If the Libs get control of our health care you can just pack it up America because it'll be over...

Once the government controls your health, they control you.

Freedom is no joke my friend. Too many have sacrificed too much for it to be thrown away like a piece of trash in the name of convenience.

Public health care will be a great ruin to this country. I sincerely hope we do not go down this road, because it will without a doubt make us a much poorer land years down the road.

But you know, the older baby boomer generation have got to cover their aging asses somehow, and they're doing it now on our dime. By the time the baby boomers are starting to really need the health care system, they'll have wound up the laws so tight we'll never be able to untangle ourselves. Like social security.

Oh, and we'll never ever see our social security money either, but that's another issue...

Obama and the dems in congress weren't elected on a "pro Democrat" vote as much as an "anti Bush" vote. The Bush Administration raised spending, misled the country about WMD's, put an arrogant foot forward in international relations, snubbed the UN, scared people by not seeming like they knew what they were talking about, and generally pissed everyone off... me included. That's why I supported Obama at election time, and don't regret it even now.

Obama is one of the most intelligent leaders we have ever had, a gifted orator, and a well-meaning and upright man. I have a lot of respect for him as a person (so far). He makes us all look better, and we are getting more cooperation around the world because of it.

His policies? Not so much. Down with universal health care.

Where is Ronald Reagan when we need him?

We need to retake congress.

Nothing should be allowed to come out of Capitol Hill, no laws, no bills, nothing, until we fix the corruption in the capitol first.

I half agree with you.

I don't think Obama is well meaning at all. I think he's just another power hungry politician from the Left trying to control everyone's lives. The thing about him is that he did a great job of crafting a cult of personality, which is a very dangerous thing. When people vote on that basis, they cannot see him for what he truly is...a radical trying to undo the institutions that have made this country so great.

Obama was the single biggest mistake the electorate has ever made. Save for FDR. He was the biggest mistake. These guys are purely anti-American, that's all. Just look at what he and his wife said when he was elected...something along the lines of for the first time they were proud of their country. WTF? What well intentioned person has ever said something so offensive?

As for his speaking skills, yeah, I guess they're good. But, get him away from a prepared speech or a teleprompter and he's a fucking buffoon. He knows that his beliefs are not what the American people truly want, so he disguises his policies and beliefs with fancy speeches, blatant lies, and eloquent prose. I don't believe a single thing the man has to say...nothing.

His talent? Hmmm. What has he done in his life? He won one election, 2008. The other was because of a scandal, involving adultery, that destroyed his Republican opponent. If not for that, the fucker wouldn't be here. He's not the American success story. He's not a role-model. You know who is? That guy that started a business from scratch. The same guy that employs people, the guy that improved his life because he provided people with a good or service the WANT, that guy is a fucking hero. Shit, corporate executives are heroes. If you look at the number of corporate executives that have been indicted and compare it to the number of teachers that have been arrested, fired, disciplined, indicted, etc for sleeping with their students you'll find that it's 4 times more likely for a teacher to be corrupt than a corporate executive. Yet, one is demonized for being successful while the other is celebrated for being selfless...right.

Bush and the Republicans fucked up. Pure and simple. Their domestic policies were for shit. BUT, the administration is on record of having said that the lending practices at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were dangerous. That the lending policies for homes, promoted by the Federal Government (more specifically Dem's Chris Dodd and Barney Frank), were unhealthy.

Did they act on bad intelligence regarding WMDs? Yep. But, we forget that SO DID THE BRITISH! Everyone was wrong. Further, I genuinely believe that Hussien did have WMDs..fuck, he used them on the Kurds in Northern Iraq. It's a fucking desert out there...it's not like it would be hard for these WMDs to disappear across the boarder to Iran or to Syria would it?

And, let's talk more about that. War sucks. I hate the whole idea of it. BUT, we have a volunteer army. They willingly do this. Also, last Friday we observed the 8th anniversary of 9/11. 8 years man. 8 years without any other form of terrorism on OUR SOIL. Hmmm...if his foreign policies were such failures, then why have we been kept safe for so long? This is one thing the government has done right...keep us safe from foreign invaders. Kudos to you President Bush. Thank you for standing up and fighting back.

Finally, this idea of the international community liking us or not liking us is bullshit. If it weren't for America, this world would be a very dark place. We are the world's saving grace. Every single fucking country in this world should get on their fucking knees and thank us that we are as strong and powerful and benevolent as we are. Do you think if Argentina was as financially and militarily strong as the U.S. that they wouldn't have already swept through South America by now?

Instead of engaging the international community, I think we should do the opposite. I think we should pull all of our troops out of foreign countries. Bring them home. Let's beef up the defense of our borders. Let's stop the third world immigrants from undermining our strength. Let's stop defending weaker nations from stronger, more oppressive nations. Let's see what kind of havoc would break out in the world then. Let's see if the France's, Germany's, Sweden's, Spain's, etc. of the world can afford to provide national defense and universal health care to their citizens. Let's see how well that works.

If the rest of the world hates us, you know what I say? Fuck them. You deal with your own shit. We'll be over here focusing on making money, living free lives, and be ready to fight back when you inevitably come knocking on our door to take what we have worked so hard for...

The world is lost without America. Period.

By engaging the world as Obama has done AND apologizing for the crimes we've committed...show me one you fucking tyrant...all he has done is level the playing field. No, no. He hasn't empowered them, instead he's weakened us. He's brought us done to their level. And this is his goal for all of us...he wants us all to be on the same level...no success, no failure, just benevolent little worker bees coming together and helping our government function. FUCK THAT!!!

I hate to say it, but the truth is the truth. America, and her people, are better than the rest of the world. Period.

I'm proud to be an American. Obama is not. So, fuck you Obama. Go back to Kenya and see what your life could have been like if not for the greatness that is America. He's a joke and he'll go down as the WORST President we've ever had.

The only good that has come from him is that the Conservative movement is back. No longer will we sit back and be silent. It's a war and we're going to fight. History is on our side. The American Way is what drives us. No longer will we be told that it is wrong to succeed. No longer will we ignore the soft tyranny that is the Federal government. No longer will we watch the national media and believe their lies. The silent majority is silent no longer.

You are right on one thing though:

Where or where are you Reagan? A broken country has forgotten your message.

Bull Run,

How would that make things right - if my grandpa, my grandma, my cousins, my uncles, and the rest of my family who live overseas got down on their knees and thanked you for being an American Citizen?

There's no doubt this is an emotional topic for you. I'm not going to try to change your mind on politics because that, I think, would be an exercise in futility.

I will say, though, that I think you underestimate the Europeans.

I believe we are the most powerful and wealthiest nation on earth because the world wars did not touch American mainland soil, and the world order is still rebuilding and reshuffling from that period.

We have built up the world's most powerful military, as a result of the Soviet threat to the Western World, and the fact that Europe didn't / doesn't trust itself to arm.

Consider the post-war world and the Bretton Woods agreements. To rebuild the world economy, the nations of the western world got together and decided that the US, untouched by the war, would serve as the world's reserve currency, which we guaranteed by backing it with gold.

This system would only allow economies of the world to grow as long as we continued to export more dollars in to the system. (If the US sucks in more dollars through exporting goods than it imports, the world economy contracts) So the US went from a net exporter before the 1950's, to a massive net-importer in the decades ahead. (dollars out, goods in). We set up Japan to be our main dollar dump. Today, Japan and China share the role.

In the 1950's, the US held nearly half of the world's gold reserves. Around the 1970's, as gold was flooding out of the country mostly to the UK and other European Countries who were cashing in their greenbacks for gold, the Nixon Administration pulled out of Bretton Woods and allowed the currency to free float. Today, I believe we own around 20% of the world's gold supply.

As a response, the EC, and later the EU was formed and the Euro was established.

However, the US dollar is still the world's reserve currency, due to the fact that oil is traded for USD. Due to the policies above, China holds nearly TWO TRILLION dollars in US currency in its reserves.

We have the military. They could literally shut down our economy at will, were they so inclined.

If Asia dumps the dollar, if oil is no longer the world's energy, if the oil producers dump the dollar in favor of the Euro, we are really, really, really screwed.

We need leaders who can play this chess match.
