There are no direct advantages I've found in game... being shy is almost always a disadvantage. The only way I've really found being shy somewhat of an advantage is that since you're in your head more than some people, you're usually more in touch with your strengths and weaknesses and may be more creative... you can take advantage of that in set by using your creativity and playing to your strengths and minimizing the weaknesses... but as far as a direct advantage... if there is one, I haven't found it :)
What I have found is that it's not as hard to overcome shyness as a lot of shy people think :) It just takes a lot of time putting yourself out of your comfort zone and wanting it enough to socialize more.

I'm definetly a more introverted type, and when I'm out in the field I take on an extroverted persona. And while the extroverted persona is also the real me, it's not a role I would feel comfortable playing 24/7. Time and place, you know. As a result I genuinely consider myself to be shy as well (And there was no question about it before I got iinto PU stuff). The only advantage I've ever found from it is when I talk about being shy and my actions clearly contradict it. Telling a girl I'm really shy while I'm laughing and grinning sarcastically, really fucks with them. It can yeild the same benefit of a neg without having to be "mean."
If a guy who's cleary not shy is telling a girl she is shy, what does it mean? He doesn't like her? Then why's he's still talking to her? Hopefully you can see the advantage to what I'm saying.

I would say I am the same way you are.

I would think shy people tend to be better listeners due to the fact that they aren't busy bumping their gums! So you might come across as more sensitive and capable of deeper conversation. (less player like)
Also because your more likely to be listening you have more time to get a feel for the situation/person you are gaming.
I'd suspect shy people might also be better at reading body language. Its hard to read someone's body language when your busy talking about yourself.
Some girls really enjoy talking about themeselves so if you can ask the right open ended questions and get them talking about themselves you might make them feel good about themselves. You'll still need to lead the conversation however. But becareful here, girls might see you as a really nice guy but you might not be creating the "attraction" you need to create.
To be successful across the board tho, you will need to get past that shyness.

Shy being an advantage? On the surface I would only say Yes if you come across an aggressive girl and she finds it endearing.
Sometimes people perceive being shy as mysterious. So maybe then it could be to an advantage.
Saying you are shy and being shy are two different things. The only way I can see telling the girl you are shy to your advantage is using it to your advantage. Basically being cocky funny.
PUA: Approaches a girl and says I'm very shy but I wanted to come talk to you(Slight Grin on Face). Naturally her first thought is how could a guy be shy and come hit on me? It doesn't make sense. Therefore she will think it's funny. Bam you have the girl laughing at your very first sentence.
Overall I really don't see how being shy will ever give you an advantage. Now being the guy who shuts his mouth and sits back and listens while everyone gabs??? Now that can be an advantage but that is really a different story. That pertains more to business IMO.
