Noobs...

Postby Guest » Thu Jan 22, 2009 1:37 pm

I was just perusing the Introduction section, it's been slow this week at the office and my porn access has been shut off while I'm here :(.

Anyway, I've noticed that of the guys that have posted introductions over the last 3 - 4 months and of all of the intros posted, I've probably met 2 or 3 of the guys that have posted.

Where the hell do all these guys go? Has anyone actually met a meaningful number of these guys?

It seems to me there are a couple of things going on:

1) Lots of pussies that don't want to actually learn this stuff
2) Lots of insecure guys that don't want to interact with more experienced guys for fear of being shown up
3) Lurkers that steal our hard earned thoughts and ideas
4) Guys that are dabbling with the idea of the Community but don't ever commit
5) Younger guys that can't get in the 21+ venues (note I edited this after thinking about it a little longer)
6) Or straight up assholes that try to come on here and make a mockery of our pursuit of pussy

What do you guys think? Its one thing to be inactive, it's another to anonymous.

Makes me think that the only forums that should be available to guys that we've never met should be the Introduction and the Events forum. You only get to read the real shit when you've proven to be a real person.

OR

We just post everything in the Lounge area, which is what I think I'm going to start doing.

Thoughts? Comments? Criticism? Mockery?

note that im typing this from my phone, so excuse my typos and lack of capitalization.

i half feel the way you do, br. the other half thinks there needs to be some publically accessible info to further attract these newbies to events. perhaps switching all posts to lounge, and having mods move elect threads to public forums for this purpose? sure, it might be a little extra work/communication for mods...but ive modded/ran forums before and i know modding dallaslair is easy work : - )

ill post more when i have a easier to use shift key.

Ok, I typed something nice and as politically correct as I'm capable of.........but I deleted it. So fuck that.

Yeah those guys who don't post are fucking wannabee's. If they can't muster up the courage to participate on this forum, then they are wasting their time even reading this stuff. They for damn sure won't be able to run game in the field. It's like they fear being rejected so its more comfortable to lurk in the background. For all I care, they can go back to Chumpville!

However I do think a "general" access area like we currently have is important. Its a good way of generating initial interest in a newbie who does have what it takes to make the first step. When I first started reading this stuff, I was enthralled by the possibilities. Had I been locked out of the good stuff from the very beginning I don't think I would have been as enthusiastic.

It takes a strong-willed person to be a PUA. This game is not for everybody.

I think things are fine as they are. There will always be people who read and don't come out... that is just the nature of the beast in almost any serious endeavor there are always people who will look and give up quickly (if they ever devote any real energy to it).

The material gives people a reason to come back though... say for example they come here and read it and are too big of an AFC to come out or every try it... they may even come back to the site many times over time and do the same... at some point they may actually say screw it and actually come out... I think if that material is put away where the noobs can't see it, there'll be less chance of inspiring the newb to begin with.

I don't think it's really stealing, because everything people have put on here no one has asked anything for in return. I think part of the 'being the ultimate version of yourself' is helping/mentoring others so if 10 noobs see your post and walk away and the next 1 sees it and comes out... you did something. You take the post away, all 11 may walk.

Comes down to what the goal of the site is - is it to help as many guys as possible? If so, leave it as is. If it's to only help the people who are serious about this get good, a change is definitely in order.

I guess this is the point I'm trying to get to in a very, very round about way.

The harder we make it to access our site and what we're DOING, the more likely it is that we'll actually be dealing with truly strong-willed individuals.

I know it sounds heartless, but success only comes to the hungry. My thinking is that I was hungry, you were hungry but a lot of these guys aren't really hungry. Instead, they're just eating the scraps from our tables. Sure, I understand that they're scraps but still they're still our scraps and we earned them. I'd rather my scraps rot than have others that never earned them feast on them.

JJE,

I'm not sure I can agree with anything that you've said. I guess I'm of the school of thought that if you want to change something, you'll do so, regardless of whether or not you have a website of thoughtful posts to help you on the way. The truly hungry don't stay hungry for long. In my opinion, I want the guys that are truly hungry to be on these boards. If that means we have 111 guys check us out and only 1 does what is required to become a member, then I think that's better than having 11 guys read our thoughts, theories, experiences (without earning any of the above) and only having 1 become one of us. That '1' will no doubt be 'weaker' than the 1 out of 111. I'm tired of dealing with guys that don't have the heart to do what is required to change your life. It's a waste of my time. I don't like feeling this way, I'm very helpful, very enthusiastic about parlaying my knowledge...but I want a reason to feel differently.

I'm tired of seeing posts from the weak, topics of self-loathing, guys that have no hope and want sympathy. I'm done giving it to you, I'm not a facilitator of your self-pity. Life is hard, I've dealt with shit, but I've pulled myself up by my bootstraps and have created the person I am today. I expect the same from everyone else.

See you in the scene.

I agree with BR 100% I'd rather debate tactics with 1 cool guy than 100 douche bags.

Yeah reading posts from people who whine does get tiring very quickly. I mean other lairs have same issue, but people who are not commited tend to just go away. I still think that this website is good as it is.

You're talking to the guys and scolding them for not posting, not showing up, not going to meetings, not doing pickup and not committing themselves to this practice as much as you have.

Its great that you've chosen to be a pickup artist. Its good that you take control of your own life.

But that's really where it ends.

We have no control over what other people do, say, or feel. This includes women.

I agree with your post about how the guys are whiny and weird. Half the posts on there are "I have approach anxiety" or "Boo Hoo some random girl didn't like me."
And you're absolutely right, its pointless.

But that's their problem.

The one thing I want to convey (if I can) is to put your focus on what matters.

What do you want?
What is your goal?

Is it to rule over a bunch of newbies in a bar? Or is it a successful guy with a great girlfriend or many great girlfriends? See, what we focus on determines where we are in life.

Also I've said it before and I will say it again and again, pickup is a personal journey.

The 80/20 rule tells us that 80% of the problems come from within us. The outer is merely 20%. The solutions to these problems are not "those guys" or "those girls".

The point that is trying to be made is that there is a tool at the disposal of those who are members of this board that isn't being used. If you don't want to use it, fine. If you feel that you can hop, skip and jump along this journey on your own...great. I applaud you. But from the look/sound of things, many cannot. I know I couldn't. What did I do? I eagerly befriended multiple members of this board. I wasn't "mentored" as I think some are looking at this from the perspective of, I was merely exchanging life lessons with my peers. I learn from them as they learn from me. If you've been "a part of this community" for a while and you still have issues with AA or any of the rudimentary skills in this craft, well then you probably need a bit more help than you can provide yourself.

A lot of this, at least for me, stems from the constant spewing of information to people over this forum (especially in PM) over silly introductory issues...stuff like AA, social proof, inner game, etc etc that can mostly be remedied with a social circle of confident, fun people for you to feed off of (for lack of a better term.)

I improved in life thanks to others I met here. You can too...well SOME of you can.
