Inner game tips?

Postby Guest » Mon Dec 22, 2008 10:55 pm

Just looking for any recommendations you guys may have on inner game audio courses or something. Something I can pop in the cd player and listen to in the car. The only thing I have close to inner game is David D's 77 laws to success. Almost all the things I find are outer game and techniques. I realized the other day I have a long ways to go on my inner game. Anyway, give me any thoughts or anything you may have.

Thanks.

I'm in the throws of inner game development right now..
I'm open for any suggestions as well.. But I can offer what I know so far..

1st things 1st..
You can listen to all the cd's in the world..
But if your not 100% honest with yourself.. and prepared to do the heavy lifting forget it.

This means becoming aware of whats holding you back.. and confronting it..

Inner Game change.. At least for me in a nut shell..

It's about facing your fears and weaknesses and challenging your old beliefs and keep doing it until they have changed..

It's going to take time.. The best thing I've done for myself is force myself to do shit I don't want to do..

And then do it again and again and again.. ( I think maybe having a wing to push you outside your comfort zone would be good) Set a goal each night . open 5 sets.. next night.. open 6 sets.. whatever.. tell your wing to push you.

I try to think of this as kind of a numbers game..
Do something X number of times.. you will become a success at it..

When the fear/limiting thoughts comes up..
One thing thing I had a lot of success with ..and I just came upon this a couple of days ago ..

Is changing the way you view things.. Training your mind to realize there are other positive possibilities/ options.
Breaking the routine of I can't do.. because of fear..

Example.. You don't want to go out because of fear.. But deep down you really want to go.. Get ready force yourself to drive to the parking lot.. Make a list of every reason why you don't want to go ..
1. I'm afraid I'll get into a fight
2. I'm afraid I get embarrassed or blown out
3. I'm afraid someone will pick on me
4. I'm afraid I'll do something dumb
etc..
Now challenge each Belief with three possible positive "what if" outcomes
Starting with a very true statement moving to the extreme
A. I'm afraid I'll get into a fight

1. What if I meet some really cool people
2. What if I have the time of my Life
3. What if I get there and people treat me like I'm a celebrity

B. I'm afraid I'll get embarrassed

1. What if I'm the smoothest and Coolest MoFO in the place
2. What if I run the show.. and other people are trying to be my friend.
3. What if I do something really cool and people treat me like a hero

c. I'm afraid I'll do something dumb
1. What if I do something great
2. What if I am the man
3. What if I meet the hottest girl in the place and f-close

By doing this you will feel immediately calm .. and you are re- training your mind to see and think other options in the positive.
This has been very helpful so far..

I think making a positive goal list of what you want to change and reviewing it daily will keep you focused also.. Its so easy to slip back

Also stop beating yourself up over shit.. When you go out or??...when you leave write down or just reflect on all or/ anything positive that happened.. pat yourself on the back.. Make it a habit .. finding and reinforce your successes and re-live them..

You are fighting old bad habits/beliefs .. And it's going to take time and effort to reverse these habits/beliefs..

Be honest with yourself and be prepared to fight..

I also have an off the wall idea.. Which may work ????
Become a script writer.. No Bullshit.. Rewrite your life.. more over create a new life..
spend an hour every night writing yourself into successful situations in great detail as if it truly happened visualize with lots of emotion. and reflect upon the event as if it happened.. Keep building chapters after chapter.. re-reading them with repetition and emotion.. Believe like you believe it really happened ..

I can't be held responsible if you wind up with a multiple personality disorder :)

This is based on the theory that you mind doesn't know the difference between .. what is visualized and reality..

Olympic athletes use this as part of there training to get an edge.. There is also study's that virtual workout's actually increased muscle strength..

Anyways.. I thought I would throw it out there..

David D's Deep Inner Game is pretty good - believe i have that somewhere here on dvd. Inner game can be a different things though more specifics might help... for some inner game is just confidence... for others it can be other personality issues, or other issues with women.

From my personal experience there are two phases to dealing with your inner game issues: acknowledging them and overcoming them. Listening to a cd or book will help you acknowledge them - that's the easy part. For example it's easy to tell yourself how badass you are in your head - it's another thing to go out someplace and truly believe that at your core. Like with learning game/principles a lot of that is working on it daily until you internalize it. And the materials you might be looking for are going to be different depending on where you are at. For example the David D stuff I mentioned might help you acknowledge your issues and get you on the right footing so you can start to overcome it... but at the end of it you're still going to have a lot of work to do to get to that place where you are truly beyond those issues. How you get there is still something I'm working on, too... but it's a completely different step from the first.

That's twice this week I've heard about that book Tribulus relating to this subject. I think I've downloaded a pdf of it somewhere.. I'm gonna have to read it now. I was told something about a Doctor of plastic surgery.. and how some people could be changed instantly and others no matter what procedure was done couldn't see the results because of limiting under laying beliefs.. or something.. Sounds pretty interesting ..

Rare de-lurk but I have to agree on this (still have a copy) - Psycho-Cybernetics is an excellent start

It was written by a plastic surgeon @ 50 years ago, a doctor who used his skill to give people movie star looks, but ultimately started to wonder why he couldn't change the way they _thought_ the world saw them - so he began to research the topic and the result is the book

Full of excellent explanations and exercises to improve over time, ones' self perception ("inner game")
