LOL weed does the same thing if you do it long enough :) Someone on here said it helps their game, but it did the opposite for me. You may be different :)

If you want a kick ass sarge boost, get your hands on some methylprednisone (prescription) - that stuff will make you socially aggressive, talkative as shit, and have no desire to sleep... i took it for medicinal purposes a way back but it would be awesome for sarging. it's a steroid tho you can't take it daily forever

For one thing, alcohol is affecting me in ways that it never used to. I feel like I am starting to get addicted - to a point where I can't go out to a bar and feel normal without having a drink or two. I will actually crave liquor.

I was sober this entire weekend. First time I can remember that happening in a long long time.

Being in a bar sober is the last thing I want to do. It is so gay and boring.

I think there is a good chance you are just going overboard on the booze. I know this is a good time of year to party but at some point you need to cut yourself off. Maybe after 5 drinks that is your limit. By 2 or 3 AM you should be sobering up nicely and none of these crazy ass thoughts or feelings will invade you brain.

I know what can happen to people who have drinking problems. I don't wish that life on anyone.

Why not set a per-night boundary for yourself and keep track of your drinks.
Set your limit to no more than say 4 drinks total in a night (or whatever will let you have fun, but not go overboard).

As for the depression stuff, here's my 2cents:
I'm a pretty firm believer that many times people give in to depression because they lack the will to get themselves out or they accept the sometimes all-too-common social norms that depression is something you can't work your way out of with some (or maybe alot of) self-discipline. I really don't often get too depressed, but I formed this opinion when I went really far down the hill after my ex for a good 6 months, only to walk all the way back up pretty much entirely on my own.

------HOWEVER------
There is a point where I think its important that you take action and either do something about it on your own....or, if you need to, go do the therapist thing. Either way, I firmly believe that if it helps you.....then there is NO shame in it at all.
Fuck that 'be-a-man-and-get-over-it' shit if you've legitimately given that a try and it hasn't worked.

I'm not suggesting that you might be suicidal or any of that crap....I'm just talking about nipping it in the butt before it really gets you somewhere you don't want to be.

Anyway, don't forget that you've got a pretty good set of friends here who will call you out on that 5th drink if you ask them to.

Thanks guys. It's a physical problem though with the way I react to alcohol. It may well be from over-use. I experience the feeling of a hangover the same way other people experience the feeling of being bummed out. Like I have NO energy and my eyes tear up and all that. So at the end of a night and for much of the next day, I'm not a great person to be around.

I think it's purely a physical thing, like a side-effect. But that means that I am looking for an alternative to alcohol - either an alternative drug or an alternative lifestyle.

Caffeine is now my drug of choice.

When I drink alcohol it makes me more relaxed, more calm, and less likely to talk to strangers. For me it only adds to the fun slightly, until I start getting really lit, and then it gets really fun... and I start grabbing boobs.

Caffeine makes me more talkative and outgoing and energetic.

As for the addictive tendencies, setting a limit to enforce moderation might be ok, but it may be more difficult than cutting it out entirely, at least for a while.

Thanks man. Maybe I could switch to something that I can handle a bit better, maybe that would work. Weed maybe?

I've never heard of methyl...whatever, man unless that's chrystal meth, which i wouldn't fuck around with.

caffine is a bit weak for me, it doesn't really do much, and i would proably want something with the opposite effect anyway - something to make me stop thinking.

I have a bottle of an herb called Kava, it is very good at making you social and outgoing but the effects only last about 15 minutes before they completely wear off. So it's a bit weaker than I am looking for. I usually use it for presentations and such and it works like a charm.

I've been looking in to two alternatives - Lexapro and Xanax. Lexapro I don't know much about, but it seems good and I may pick some up, and Xanax is a little worrying in that I hear it is hard to stop taking and I don't really want to fuck around with.

Oh, and then there's weed. Let me put it this way.

For educational purposes only... (lol)... if somebody knows where I can buy some hit me up on PM or call my cellphone and let's talk education.

Grimm I can relate to what your saying 100%..

After a night of drinking I would wake up feeling the exact same way you described. I was where you are few months ago. You seem very intelligent and you have the gift of insight a lot of people don’t have.. I think you’re doing the right thing by stopping at-least for a while.

I would like to add something here. Maybe help someone going down this path..
There is another thing you really need too watch out for.. It creeps up on you over time while you’re drinking. At-least it happen to me this way.

You will think your ok.. Same as the night before.. You feel fine.. but truly you've lost you ability to see how your decision will affect you. We all know that drinking lowers your inhibitions “your gatekeeper”. It’s a great social lubricant.. helps the old approach anxiety... but it has a darkside also.. If your sober this gatekeeper (inhibitions) will stop you from doing shit you wouldn’t normally do. Like getting into fights, being an asshole etc..

For me.. it was other people.. at a bar, party someone being a douche-bag .. I just wouldn’t take there shit.. I’m normally not that aggressive.. (although I now realize it could be my demonic inner game cd.. LOL) but seriously.. I ended up in a situation.. I wouldn’t wish on anyone and spent two days in the hospital and like 5 months later I'm still not 100%.

I still can’t believe what happen.. but I finally figured out what the problem was.. At least for me..

If you have unresolved stress/problems.. marriage, girlfriend, friends, family, school, work, personal be it whatever.. These stresses/problems will start seeking resolve while “your gatekeeper” is asleep and you may end up getting yourself in a situation you can’t get out of easily.. Just something to keep in mind …
