It's been hard to answer this question reconciling where I am with what I want and being realistic. I have one real goal for this next year.
Sell a web site for a million bux.
Other financial stuff should fall in line from there or along the way with other projects potentials. As far as pickup goes, I expect my social life will fuel my financial life and vice versa.
My short term goal as far as pick up goes is: slump bust. It's been 5 years for godsakes... I lost my sex drive when my son was born. I understand it's fairly common.

a 15 year old girl sold her myspace theme site for 14 mil earlier this year. Arstechnica sold for several milion a little while back. Sites sell for any number of prices. My harmonica site is #2 in its niche and building.
then there's site flipping... it's the new house flipping.
gotta have the newest niche thing...obviously content is user-driven...social type thing most likely. Those and music user-driven sites are pretty much the only things that'll ever sell for more than 50-100k...

My sole form of income came from the internet for about 6 years. I haven't done anything though in about 4 years.
It was probably the easiest money of my life. But now I guess my brain doesn't work very well in regards to the internet.

There's a bunch of things that make a site valuable. Traffic, prestige. subscribers, income, reach, content, market and so on. My primary niche right now is harmonica notes (that's me at #2 when you search google for that phrase... usually.) I also rank top 10 for [link=http://www.harmonicanotes.net/category/harmonica-chords/]harmonica chords[/link] and [link=http://www.harmonicanotes.net/2008/11/harmonica-set-ideas/]harmonica sets[/link]. There's a bunch of long tail key words that I rank for, like G harmonica notes, c harmonica notes, all of which generate traffic.
I started harmonica notes as an expert site. I picked up the harmonica and figured I'd write about it as I learned. If I found things on the internet, I would talk about them and basically build community. My goal with [link=http://www.harmonicanotes.net/]harmonica notes[/link] is to build a go to place for people to find out about blues harmonica. Now if I can become the #1 ranked site whenever you search for anything involving harmonicas, do you think that might be worth something to a company selling harmonicas, harmonica lessons, harmonica books, harmonica DVDs or whatever else there is out there? Even if I'm not the go to site for all things harmonica but I do have high traffic and a loyal community, wouldn't it still be valuable to those same people?
If I can find a new niche with good traffic and low competition to exploit every 2 weeks, start a site for each niche and build rank with them, that's 26 sites in one year. All with different income potential for advertising, product development and possible sale. I may sell a site for $100, have 10 sites producing $10 a day, have a forum with a thriving community generating content on it's own and so on.
One of the guys I learn from, Ed Dale started doing this, knowing nothing, and sold his 34th site for 4 million dollars. I have his experience and teaching backing me and I'm building 2 sites a month... you see where I'm going with this.
If you want to know what sites are selling for, check out [url]http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/[/url] its an auction site for web sites. Will I sell a million dollar web site in the next 12 months? I don't know but why not aim high? If I shoot for the moon I may fall back down to earth, but if I shoot for the sun I may accidentally land on the moon.

that's impressive...mind saying or how? or maybe we can save it for an offline convo if prefer..
I'm always trying to brainstorm ideas (and had been seeking venture funding for previous idea) and like kicking ideas around with like minded folks..
