Approach Anxiety Revisited

I thought I was over my AA, but I guess I was wrong. It's all a bit strange. At the community college where I do the majority of my sarging, I could comfortably walk up to an attractive girl and begin picking my nose were I so inclined, but when I try sarging somewhere I haven't done it before, I find that approaching can once again be something of a challenge.

I suppose the logical solution is to focus primarily on improving my game in a familiar setting, but keep hitting new venues from time to time in order to broaden my horizons.

I have the same problem. In familiar settings, I have near nonexistant AA. In places I'm less comfortable, I usually NEED a couple of beers to loosen up, if I havent warmed up.

I got the idea of warm up sets from a coach. Go somewhere and talk to a few people to get in a talkative mood, so when your ready to sarge, your game is going.

Even the masters get approach anxiety sometimes. Though when you are in the right mindset, AA can diminish greatly (Check out http://dallaspua.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=277 for getting in the right mindset.

There are a few other things to lower approach anxiety. You had mention that going to an unfamiliar territory intensifies AA. True. Seek out a sarging venue to frequent a few times in order to make it your territory. Look for the following when choosing one:

1) A location that is near your home. This makes the logistics for a SNL easier. If a good venue is not close to your home, find a good restaurant, coffee house, etc. that is so you can change venue to this location which is just an easy hop to your home.
2) Know what you want in a woman. After knowing the type of girl you want, find a venue that has these kinds of women. It is all about you.
3) Frequent the bar a few time to become familiar with it. Meet the regulars, the bar staffs, etc. Build social proof and familiarity.
4) Sarge!
