Agreed. I think virtually everyone on here is way more interested in improving their game and building a social network than destroying someone else's set(s).

Yes, this is exactly what i would have outlined as my preference. i call 'walk abouts' actually a "self promotional tour" around the bar where you put yourself out there away from the group. :)
Some believe winging a set is better and works better, more power to them, some believe a solo approach (breaking away from group and/or actually a solo sarging night) is better for them...more power to them. There are pros/cons on both sides that can be debated till we are blue in the face...

I actually noticed the group 'observing' me in set as well, but i didn't make the connection that they were observing me a not wanting me to succeed or close. what made you draw that conclusion? I think someone in set routinely gets observed by other PUAs in the field. In fact that's part of what meetups are even for to be able to observe other PUAs to either learn/see other styles/etc....
It's all just personal preference and a means to the end. no harm no foul!

This brings up a good point though...which holds for learning anything new though.
You should always be critical of advice and think for yourself.
That doesn't mean all advice is bad...it means you should decide if you agree with it before you just assume its correct.
I have a general rule I try to stick to where I give neutral credibility to people until they prove themselves to ME....regardless of their reputation.
I use this in alot of places...work, school, life in general, etc.
In the case of this community....try out advice for yourself. If it gives you better results, or (more importantly) it makes sense, then you can assign more credibility to the person who gave you the advice.
It does you no good to just go and do something without understanding why you did it.

Yeah, I agree with Topdog. The other night the group spent a few minutes watching him in set with that blonde. But, I can guarantee you that NONE of us were at all hoping that he would fail. Truth is that we're all way too concerned with our success to worry too much about someone else's success. Now, this doesn't mean that we won't spend some time observing different styles or methods and it doesn't mean that we won't offer advice where we see opportunities for improvement. Anyway, we may have our differences as a group. Some guys like other guys better, some guys don't like other guys. This is to be expected. But, I refuse to believe that any of us actually wish failure on anyone else regardless of how much we like or don't like said individual.

this group is really lucky there are guys here who have it pretty well together and guys here who are still working on their issues... but in my experience i haven't seen any of the really negative stuff you would expect (negative guys, cockblockers, plain old assholes and dicks, etc). Our vibe is probably too strong for those guys to really hang, but it's why I like this group. Overall just a ton of cool guys no matter where they're at in their pua/personal journey. I haven't met one of you guys I've disliked yet.

But I can completely see where you are coming from on the whole wing issue. I know a lot of people don't like wings. That is just fine. I for one do. I love a good wing. It is all about someone matching or enhancing YOUR personality. You do the same for him and thus both of your presences are enhanced. When you find your match rooms can be dominated with ease.
Both you and your wing push each other and enjoy each others success. Just ask Lion some of the sets I have handed over to him. You and your wing should compete(In a friendly manner of course). Competition usually drives people to achieve greater results. Example: Your wing might say if you don't go close that I will. That line works wonders. You and your wing should have rules. You should take turns calling dibs on targets.
You have to get out there and find one. I think I have seen you at ONE meeting? I found my wing at a meeting not to mention made a ton of good friends. You really need to get out and about and locate someone. I guarantee they are out there and probably looking for you as well. And speaking of the meetings I really need to write an entire post/rant about that. I can't believe how many people want to get better at game and never make it out to them.
Here is the real truth though. Wings are not just magically found. They are made. Let me repeat that. Good wings are MADE. Meaning you need to find someone you can mesh with. Then actually get to know them a little and become decent friends. This is when the magic happens. This is when you are driving to the venue and your wing turns to you and says we are pulling SNL's tonight. And all you do is NOD because you know it too.
