You're funny. First, ask yourself this.
Who is running health care system right now?
The private health insurance firms. What is government doing? well not as much as these private insurance firms.
JUST BECAUSE, you're too FAT or too SKINNY, you can't get health insurance is fucked up. WHY? coz they have potential danger to cost insurance company more money.
SO what incentives are here? Minimum treatment to people means maximizing the profit for the company. Does government regulate this? errr nope. so WHy should I blame the government? They ain't doing much.
Don't be so close minded bullrun. Open your mind, do some research before you call anything bullshit.
Have you even seen Sicko?

Listen bro. I don't like the insurance system either. Instead, I think it should be more like this...
Private health accounts up to $2,000 per year that is non taxed by the Fascist U.S. Government. This account should be funded in part by yourself and in part by your employer (yes, I said employer if you don't have a job you need to pay for it yourself or you don't get treated only those that work should be 'entitled' to have health care). The reason for a spending account is so that you ensure that you don't spend your money on trivial bullshit. If it's your own money, you'll think twice about going to the doctor and you'll think twice about their 'treatments'.
An example is in order.
I just broke my foot, seriously I did. I went to an urgent care facility with the knowledge that they were going to refer me to an orthopedic regardless of what the x-rays said, which is why I went to the urgent care facility. You see, under my insurance plan if I get referred to a specialist my co-pay is like $10 if I simply just walk in it's like $50. You do the math, it's easy so I'm sure you can. Anyway, at the urgent care facility they prescribed crutches (that I knew I would not use) but I took them anyway BECAUSE THEY WERE FREE. When you take away the pricing mechanism, things become less scarce and the simply rule of supply and demand (which governs virtually everything in our lives) becomes void and null. If it were my money, I would have told the doctor to go fuck themselves and would have hobbled out of there crutch free. Shit, I would have gone STRAIGHT to the orthopedist instead of to the urgent care facility. Can you say waste? Really, can you?
In addition to a spending account (which you get to keep, tax-free, if you don't use), is catastrophic insurance. This insurance would be dirt cheap and would cover things like surgery, cancer, etc.
A system like that would be much, much better. But, still imperfect.
You see, people like you think that others shouldn't make money off of another person's illness but I disagree. If it weren't for the profit motive, no one would ever become a doctor or a nurse or even bother to insure you.
"It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest." Adam Smith. Soak that in. Really, soak it in.
Oh yeah, and let's talk about the government shall we? Did you know the cost of an appendectomy is several times more today than it was in the 70s? And not more due to the cost of inflation either, we're talking 20x more (I don't have the exact stat in front of my but I'll dig it up if I have to). Oh yeah, and back in the 70s the procedure was essentially the same AND you stayed in the hospital for like 3 days...today it's considered day surgery you don't even spend the night. Sure, technology has advanced and become a lot more expensive but we don't really need that technology to perform the surgery. One thing keeps us using said technology...the threat of lawsuit for malpractice. And, our legal system (overseen by the government) allows for easy access to lawsuits. Further, the government is a whole lot more involved in health care than you want to admit. Do you know how much it costs for a company to get a drug, stint, or whatev through the FDA? Millions, literally millions. Prices are artificially high because our government gets in the fucking way. And, this trickles down to the cost of insurance.
Speaking of research Sleek, have you done any outside of a FUCKING movie??? A movie with the sole purpose of swaying public opinion. Seriously, you want to talk about being closed minded...well, start with yourself. I've seen Michael Moore's bullshit films enough times to know that they are nothing but propaganda. The liberal media's attempt to turn our country, the light on the hill the last bastion of freedom in the world, to tyrannical socialism. If you don't see that, you're fucking blind.
Sleek, you're funny too. Funny in your naivity.
You want to debate? Fine. Bring some fucking facts. But, be warned...outside of Ratio, you're fucking with probably the smartest bastard on this board. So, fire away.
Mess with the bull, and you'll get the horns.
Good day sir!
