This video is a good start for anyone. Shows how to do the "across the room" thing which is followed with a direct open.

I've got a video series from Sean Messenger on eye contact. I'd say its easier to learn visually rather than from a book...because...ya know...eye contact deals with that sorta thing.

Ouch...this video is painful to me. Sorry... :)

Sure he's illustrating the creepy eye contact ok in the first half, but what he talks about in the 2nd half to me is borderline douchebag eye contact , IMHO. Seems WAY to try hard. Maybe its the camera angle in the video..something is weird.

One thing that i think is missed in discussing eye contact a lot is actually NOT giving eye contact.

Don't always be scanning the room TRYING to establish eye contact. Girls notice that shit, especially a girl that may have noticed you, may be interested in you, but is not yet in your AR.

If you walk through a bar, do not continually go back and forth seeking eye contact. One of my favorite little things i do, for example....say i'm going to the restroom, i'll look ahead casually as I'm walking and not establish eye contact with anyone. That does not mean i'm looking down, or look afraid, or not confident, it's more of a "i got better things to do". Usually what happens is when you come back through , girls will intentionally do something to GAIN rapport with me. By not giving them that validation/eye contact earlier, alot of times they'll go to the extra effort to get that.

Top Dog,

I agree with everything you've said! Actually I use the same trick as you do, especially when I first enter the bar and the girls are sizing you up.

My first impression of the video was that the guy was a total tool also, but I know Sean Messenger is amazingly good with girls, and I know that the instruction on the video is correct from different books that I've read and hell, just trying the shit. I figure I was getting the "douchebag" vibe cause it's weird to watch a dude give you "sexy" eye contact and you get uncomfortable. I definately think there's value in the video, and it helps to learn visually.

Scanning is a HUGE no-no. We were talking about "creepy" on another thread, that's a big factor. But eye contact does happen across the room and if you handle it correctly it DOES give you an easy direct open. There again, I use a natural/direct style of pickup these days so anyone using say Mystery Method is on their own to figure out what works for them.

Here's my personal rules on eye contact in general, whether in set or across the room:

1/2 SECOND RULE - Don't look at her for more than 1/2 a second if she isn't looking at you, or you're creepy.

DON'T WITHDRAW - If she gives you eye-contact, DON'T be the first to break it. Don't squint your eyes or try to "protect" yourself in any way. Be open to her. It's like kino - if she touches you don't fucking withdraw.

ANGLE OF BREAK - this works for you or her, and is what is subcommunicated when you stop looking at her/vv and if you/her looks:
down - submissive, flirtatious. this is preferred actually.
side - disinterest, wanting to leave
up - arrogance, "i am better than you". use with extreme caution.

SMILE - with your eyes. give yourself an air of mystery

BREATHE - you will seem relaxed, and that will relax her.

ANGLE YOUR FACE - watch the video to see example

RELAX YOUR HEAD AND FACIAL MUSCLES - you want to seem "cool" and relaxed.

APPROACH! - when she breaks eye contact by looking down, forget the 3 second rule, it must be immediate. simply go in and say "hi, i'm Peter (or insert your name here if you don't want to use mine). Every second you do not approach you lose a ton of value and if you wait too long, she will not open.

what's the value in this? - you would think that with all that conspiracy built up between you two and the flirtation etc that you would get more, but really all you get is a warm open. You can still get blown out later if you fuck up, even if she was eyeing you all night. take it for what it's worth.

that's all
