I didn't get the message that the event was moved up to 6pm so I didn't get there until 6:45pm. However, from what I did see, you didn't miss much as far as material goes. It was basic communiction 101 stuff that dealt a lot with emotional state. However, I really wouldn't expect much more than that from a free seminar and wasn't dissapointed.
Matador did the majority of the speaking. Although he is a good speaker as far as body language and connection with the crowd goes, he had a lot of starts and stops. He would be in mid sentence, stumble over what words to use and then restart his discussion with a different example. I think it is obvious he is still learning on how to be an instructor and Mystery, who is at his best when he is teaching, is giving him the opportunity to get group speaking time in.
What I did find really interesting was the social dynamics in the room. I would say that the majority of the PUAs in the room were star struck. Maybe it was because I walked in during the middle of the presentation so I missed the "warm up" but often times Mystery would say something that wasn't really that funny and the whole room would laugh. And not only laugh, but laugh much harder than I thought the comment deserved.
I also found it interesting that when Mystery asked for questions, the majority of "questions" asked weren't really questions. Guys would give a mini field report or talk about a tactic they use with no real question involved. It was almost like they were seeking tacit approval from Mystery by telling their story and then hoping to get a positive reaction from Mystery.
I guess my advice to everyone is don't fall into hero worship. Mystery is just a guy. Yes, he did come up with a Method that has helped many guys improve their dating lives but that doesn't mean that he is any better than any of you. He has his shortcomings just like anybody else.
I think what guys should have taken away from the seminar is not so much what was said but how Mystery and Matador presented themselves.
Matador was the epitome of cool. He was confident, poised and had great style. He obviously takes great care of himself and is ripped. Guys should take note of the clothes he was wearing and be inspired to get in shape. My only criticism was that he was wearing the ubiquitous New Rock boots which I don't think went well with his wardrobe.
Mystery was shorter than I thought he would be, much skinnier and pale. He also has a bit of a lisp which was much more noticable in person than on TV. He was also prone to "geek" speak. I am not dissing him - he is very talented and has worked hard to develop the skills he has. He is also a very effective communicator. I think what guys can take away from him is that he is successful DESPITE his physical limitations. You can be too no matter what shape or size you come in.
Overall, I am glad I went. It was a full house and I wish more gurus would come give talks like this. I also appreciate that they didn't pressure anyone to buy anything or take a bootcamp. In fact, none of that was mentioned at all.
Oh, and one final note....it is obvious that their newest routine is the "Caper / Ocean's 11" skit they kept going through. My advice is to not use this when you are out. I understand what they are trying to portray: The routine is meant to demonstrate that you are very social as you and your boys have a secret caper you just pulled off. It is meant to invoke mystery and suspense regarding what this event you pulled off is. It is also meant to inspire the girl to ask questions about the caper.
All that being said, no one talks like that. It sounded hokey to me. I am sure they are teaching it at all of their bootcamps. It is unique enough that any girl approached with that once will remember it again. If someone used that with her before, you will most likely get blown out. It wouldn't surprise me if it ends up on the show too. You don't want to use that routine on a girl and then, if you are still seeing her, have it show up on TV and get called out on it.
My 2 cents...
