Mystery and Matador speak to the Dallas Lair! 7pm Monday May 5th

Sarging expeditions, boot camp announcements, find a wingman, & other events

Yeah I thought so as well. It wasn't the most informative but when you have that much info where in the hell do you even start!!

I give major props to them for coming and just shows to me (other than the obvious p.r. and selling yourself to your target audience, which I have no problem with at all.) how you have to give back. I have no doubt they both had better things to do tonight after a million of these seminars but they gave back something.

Had a blast and thought it was a great time, great turn out as well!!

I didn't get the message that the event was moved up to 6pm so I didn't get there until 6:45pm. However, from what I did see, you didn't miss much as far as material goes. It was basic communiction 101 stuff that dealt a lot with emotional state. However, I really wouldn't expect much more than that from a free seminar and wasn't dissapointed.

Matador did the majority of the speaking. Although he is a good speaker as far as body language and connection with the crowd goes, he had a lot of starts and stops. He would be in mid sentence, stumble over what words to use and then restart his discussion with a different example. I think it is obvious he is still learning on how to be an instructor and Mystery, who is at his best when he is teaching, is giving him the opportunity to get group speaking time in.

What I did find really interesting was the social dynamics in the room. I would say that the majority of the PUAs in the room were star struck. Maybe it was because I walked in during the middle of the presentation so I missed the "warm up" but often times Mystery would say something that wasn't really that funny and the whole room would laugh. And not only laugh, but laugh much harder than I thought the comment deserved.

I also found it interesting that when Mystery asked for questions, the majority of "questions" asked weren't really questions. Guys would give a mini field report or talk about a tactic they use with no real question involved. It was almost like they were seeking tacit approval from Mystery by telling their story and then hoping to get a positive reaction from Mystery.

I guess my advice to everyone is don't fall into hero worship. Mystery is just a guy. Yes, he did come up with a Method that has helped many guys improve their dating lives but that doesn't mean that he is any better than any of you. He has his shortcomings just like anybody else.

I think what guys should have taken away from the seminar is not so much what was said but how Mystery and Matador presented themselves.

Matador was the epitome of cool. He was confident, poised and had great style. He obviously takes great care of himself and is ripped. Guys should take note of the clothes he was wearing and be inspired to get in shape. My only criticism was that he was wearing the ubiquitous New Rock boots which I don't think went well with his wardrobe.

Mystery was shorter than I thought he would be, much skinnier and pale. He also has a bit of a lisp which was much more noticable in person than on TV. He was also prone to "geek" speak. I am not dissing him - he is very talented and has worked hard to develop the skills he has. He is also a very effective communicator. I think what guys can take away from him is that he is successful DESPITE his physical limitations. You can be too no matter what shape or size you come in.

Overall, I am glad I went. It was a full house and I wish more gurus would come give talks like this. I also appreciate that they didn't pressure anyone to buy anything or take a bootcamp. In fact, none of that was mentioned at all.

Oh, and one final note....it is obvious that their newest routine is the "Caper / Ocean's 11" skit they kept going through. My advice is to not use this when you are out. I understand what they are trying to portray: The routine is meant to demonstrate that you are very social as you and your boys have a secret caper you just pulled off. It is meant to invoke mystery and suspense regarding what this event you pulled off is. It is also meant to inspire the girl to ask questions about the caper.

All that being said, no one talks like that. It sounded hokey to me. I am sure they are teaching it at all of their bootcamps. It is unique enough that any girl approached with that once will remember it again. If someone used that with her before, you will most likely get blown out. It wouldn't surprise me if it ends up on the show too. You don't want to use that routine on a girl and then, if you are still seeing her, have it show up on TV and get called out on it.

My 2 cents...

Yeah, I agree about the worship of Mystery and Matador. They're both guys just like us, and if one were pass them in public one would probably never deduce that they're PUAs.

And the questions, err comments. You're spot on regarding the questions that were asked. They weren't questions at all. BUT, I don't know if these guys were seeking validation from Mystery or just purely seeking validation. Most questions that I've heard people ask regarding pick-up were nothing more than statements regarding something they did once that worked for them. PUAs tend to love to talk about their successes, you've alluded to this before, and this is why I don't really post FRs or LRs any longer. I still write them, I just keep them to myself. On offense to anyone, but I'm not interested in being validated by a bunch of dudes.

Yeah, they were all pissing contest comments.

I really wanted to ask Matador how he came into believing in all the spirutuality stuff. I've believed for a long time that we're a virus with shoes, life is predestined through chemistry because we're all a product of the stars. I've recently been considering meditation and I can see it developing into more than that if it hooks with me...but that's not something I could get an answer out of in the time allotted so I just stfu.

I was embarrassed by the "questions" asked. Thanks for wasting everybody's time with those. Going in, I really wasn't interested in what Mystery and Matador had to say (I thought they would try and sell something), I was interested in how they carried themselves. But it turns out that they did give an informative talk and did not try and sell anything. I thought that was super-cool of them. I agree that most in attendance were star-struck, but there is a reason for that. When they came in the room they demanded attention. If you passed these guys on the street you would certainly notice them.

Matador's "Current Emotional State", while not groundbreaking, is spot-on. Like he said, you can spot who is happy and who is in pain. For the guys in pain I can only imagine how nice is to find the community, attend a Mystery talk, and CHANGE YOUR LIFE for the better. That's why this board is here, to help you guys. We talk about how you shouldn't be star-struck but not everybody is on the same level. Who better to inspire you than somebody you look up to immensely?

I think everyone on the planet can understand that people convey a mood through their interactions, so duh, nothing groundbreaking there. I was also impressed with the way Matador flowed in his soliloquy. The "what do you think about spells and shit" was fucking hilarious.

I concur, anytime I want to really jazz up an opener I always add "and shit" or if I want it extra spicy I add "and shit, BITCH". That always get a reaction.

I actually asked Matador about the spirituality a little (Of course, in the mass of people and flash bulbs, he only had time for a quick response or two), as it also resonated with me. Unlike Matador, however, I've been more focused on western philosophies than eastern, though I have begun to meditate.
