Something interesting at work.

Postby Scoundrel » Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:05 pm

I do security of a TV show that is currently filming around Dallas. Today I'm at a studio. Most days I work here are slow. Not many people come in. But, today is a little different. It seems they are doing some auditions or something.

So anyway, this morning I'm in pretty high demand to open locked doors and such. One of the people needing into offices is a very attractive women in her mid 30s. She comes and gets me three different times to open doors for her. She's one of the show producers.

Usually I don't sarge on the job. I like my job and would hate to lose it because someone gets bent about me flirting. But, the third time this woman needed me I accused her of just trying to get my attention. But, I did it in a playful, slightly self deprecating sort of way. She reacted with a big smile, a laugh and kinoing me on the arm.

I simply didn't know what to do. On the one hand I just got an IOI from an attractive (and wealthy) woman and on the other if I say the wrong thing it could cost me my job.

I find myself in this kind of situation often on this gig. There are so many HB10s coming and going and I'm dying to open them. But, it's not professional behavior. I have to maintain a certain face because I am representing my company. I have to walk a very fine line.

Does anyone have any advice?

BTW don't shit where you eat is likely what I need to hear.

ok so a cautionary tale scoundrel. I was a manager of a large retail store. Surronded by attractive 18 and 19 year olds (of course they were I hired them:D). I was the boss and if I must say a pretty good looking guy. So i dipped my pen in the office inkwell more than a few times...what do you think I got fired from my really well paying job and outcast from the managerial market for?

Don't shit where you eat!

you will regret it...unless you can find another simalar job. I have 10 years of useless expertise!

Seems to me like you have an objective outlook on your situation and basically already know the proper answer. If you're looking for affirmation that you are doing the right thing by abstaining, I wholeheartedly agree.

IDK man, I think as long as you are not on the same level as whoever you are trying to game its alright. I'm a paramedic, I game nurses all the time. As long as it is in good taste (hell sometimes it doesn't have to be, in the right situation) they are usually pretty receptive. I had a partner get a tongue thrashing for speaking Spanish, she thought he was being lude.

However I would never even think of banging another medic or EMT. I figure our jobs may be similar in that I have regular people I work with but I work around a slide show of different people all the time.

So this chick I work with has had a crush on me for 2 years. I always kinda knew it but never pursued it because I was married, but now I'm divorced. Several of the other employees know she has a crush on me. She asked me for my cell phone number the other day and I gave it to her. She is the secretary and my position is much higher but I'm not her boss. I don't interact with her too much at all at work. Sometimes I'll go all day without seeing her. She texted me the other night and wants to hang out. She said she would not say anything to anybody at work if we did. I told her that we could maybe hang out, as friends. Now I don't know what to do. I'm attracted to her. If I hang out with her alone I'm pretty sure where that is likely to go.

What should I do?

Everyone I've asked that has a career type job thinks its a bad idea. I have friends that are in food service ect and they date each other pretty liberally but those kinds of jobs are a dime a dozen. I wouldn't do it unless you were prepared to deal with the consequences, like worse case scenario it leads to some kind of lawsuit or getting fired. No girl, lay, or BJ is worth my job, so personally I wouldn't do it, I worked to hard to get where I am... unless it is Oprah:)
