What do you think?

Postby JohnnyBravo » Tue Mar 02, 2010 2:16 am

My online game needs some work. I recently sent this to a girl on a dating site.

Hi!

I was hesitant to message you because of how pointy your elbows are. I caved and messaged you anyway because I'm trying to better myself and be less discriminating. So I'm willing to give us a shot, pointy elbows and all.

I just wanted to say I find you very attractive. If I got to know you, I would invite you over for a romantic dinner and as soon as you arrived, I would pull you close and whisper in your ear "I have a Swanson tv dinner in the freezer with your name on it" and then I would proceed to fill a wine glass with Welch's grape juice or some generic grape juice. What more could a girl ask for?

Her response:

Was that supposed to be funny?

What's a good follow-up to that? I was thinking about saying something along the lines of.....

"Not at all. Everybody knows that Swanson frozen dinners and generic grapejuice mean serious business when it comes to true romance. There's no room for funny in romance."

Don't want to let her steal the frame.

Maybe she's too old for this...she's 37, I'm 40.

First of all, there is no such thing as "too old" or "too young" (unless you're talking about underage and grannies...).

I think that you may have qualified a little bit too much.

You don't have to tell her you think that she is attractive. That's the reason you "approached" her to begin with. You know it, she knows it. You don't have to tell her. I've made shills on a couple dating sites to see what other guys are saying and all they say is crap like "Wow, you're pretty." "You're pretty cute." "You're hot."

Girls on these dating sites get tired of hearing that shit because all the guys are trying to do is get laid by a stranger, they're just going about it the wrong way.

--Exactly--

The response that you put up is pretty good. I would send that and just see what she says. That's the good thing about being in the know when it comes to dating. Most guys, when they get blown out, get depressed. I love it when I piss them off so bad that they won't even look at me the rest of the night. It is those moments when you learn the most. Break down what you did wrong and what you did right.

One last thing. Of course what you said was funny. She wouldn't have replied if it didn't appeal to her in someway. She is trying to see whether she can steal your frame from you. Don't let this happen!!!

Hope this helps,
Gamble

Good advice Gamble.

Sorry I wasn't more help when you wrote me about this on FB. I'd just gotten off work and it was 4AM. I'm glad you posted here though.

I agree about the phrase "I just wanted to say..." It comes off as weak. I was discussing humor in dating emails on a dating message board recently and about twice as women agreed humor is a great to get their attention and stand out from the average guy. Also using humor is sort of a test. You're looking for women that "get" you. Matching sense of humor is important.

I've also had good results from roll play and cold reads.

Wait....stop the press....are you saying she's 3 years your junior. OMG!!!
Dude, I dated a 20 year old and I'm 38.

Yeah you might want to follow Gamble and Rockstar and make some female shills so you get to see the kinds of messages the guys are sending.

Spend about a month looking at the messages and responses with your female shills. You might even make a male shill just to test out messages with someone other than yourself. Its an interesting psychological experiment to say the least. Getting into a character of what a hot girl thinks of the messages she gets and how she might respond. It really deepened my understanding of Game in general.
Why should I listen to you when you don't even get laid?
