Too Gamey?

I wanted to throw in my opinion on the issue of being too gamey. If you go out to bars or get around in the daytime, you begin to see a general trend - alot of guys using similar lines and "strategies" to flirt or otherwise talk to women.
Sometimes it works. The girl gets it and goes for it. Other times, the guy doing it ends up looking like a horse's ass.

What kind of thing am I talking about?

Well, slamming the door in a girls' face is one thing. This is when you over neg her and it is not done in a playful way or where you have no rapport with her.
This is hard to describe in text format. Its more of a feeling you get when you misfire one of these.
Something like "Your hair is black...like charcoal" or "You spit on me....ewwww" said out-of-the blue when she has already turned her back. This is as-if the guy thinks "Oh i gotta neg her now because she turned away."
In reality, the girl just turned away but you never really hooked the set.

This is being too gamey. Its when you're throwing out all these routines and quick "back at ya"'s but nothing is working and all you're getting is silence from the girl or girls, this is being too gamey. They look at you as though you're smarmy or douchey.
Its over for you. You might as well head on home.

Its like a comedian saying after his joke bombed "What's the matter, don't you like my joke?"

Can you imagine some Gallagher-type commedian up on stage destroying watermellons and then going "Ahh come on, you don't think THAT was funny?"

This is the effect of being too gamey.

Reactionism
Another aspect of being too gamey is that its reactionary and reaction dependent. "Reactionism is the number one enemy of all PUA's. Kill it." - Captain Jack PUA.

There are two sides to this. First the guy will seek the ego validation from the women and want to see fireworks for what he does.
Then when she says something playful, he will constantly want to one up her or "back at ya" with some well reframed comment that he thinks makes him look cool.

Game is not two people trying to out wit eachother with verbal comebacks like some Western shootout at the O.K. Corral of Low Self Esteem.

Social Robotics And Rules Based Pickup

The idea of pickup being rules based or she gives an IOD so I give her an IOD is weird. This will never get you laid.

Your Appearance
Coming off too gamey can actually be set off by clothes. Think of your self as a package. Everything should match and convey high value. Or at least be normal.

There are too many wanna-be DJ's out there. Guys with shaved heads, who wear Affliction or Ed Hardy knockoffs they bought at Walmart. There's too much machoism. Too many guys have moharks, tattoos, grills on their teeth.

The thing about a look that has that is not that its bad in itself. Its the fact that EVERYONE ELSE looks like that.

The girls see that and go "next". Unless they're unattractive fugly chicks.

Affliction shirts were cool in 2006. I had some. That was then, this is now.

Having a job or health insurance or "a life" is important these days. You wouldn't want to convey to a girl that you're a loser. Even if you are, don't convey it.

Standards
What else is too gamey? Well, how about not having Standards? If you're a newbie or haven't done this for a year, its good to practice.
At some point, you don't hit on every woman you see. Why? Because the girls are too young or they don't fit with who you are.
I'm all for practice game. But really, what's the point of being gamey on every woman you see?

And it always seems to be some guy showing off for another guy. As if to say "See? I have game."

Really? Come on.

Not Being Courteous

There's a time when being nice or courteous is actually a demonstration of higher value. Again, look at all the douchebags. They're rude and obnoxious.

For example, take a woman at a checkout counter or one of those girls who works in the local sandwich shop. Are you going to neg her? It will come off as rude.

Its much better to just be nice.

Being nice gets your foot in the door. From there, you can do some game once you have the rapport.

Its the rude, insensative prick that doesn't get laid that is rude to the girl working a job. Dude, that could be your sister! So don't be that guy.

No Social Intelligence

The guy who always games and games badly doesn't notice social cues. A woman may be sitting alone but there's an empty spot next to her with two glasses.
Obviously someone is sitting next to her.

Should you dive right in and start gaming her with negs, etc? No dumbass. Wait until whoever is with her comes back.

There's nothing wrong with talking to groups of people. The problem Mr. Too Gamey has is that he will run his game the same every time. The problem is that the people will probably know what he's up to and it will come across as douchebaggy.

Making oneself out to be a horse's ass is not the idea.

Social Intellegence is a fine skill and one that has to be refined. Its all about observation and making appropriate comments.
One way to get alot of intel is to simply ask "How do you all know eachother?"

There are other social cues. Watch the men and watch the women. And ask yourself "How would I feel in their shoes?"

Empathy For Your Fellow Man

Dale Carnegie wrote alot on this. Its so simple and basic but so many guys don't get it. Showing empathy and concern for others is a huge thing.

The Game makes guys become good at social phenomena in bars. But alot of the short cuts are not useful for getting to know people on an idividual basis.
The game cannot replace our humanity.

Trends

You're have to live under a rock not to notice how the world changes year to year. The internet, Youtube, T shirts with digital graphics on them, the douche look....these are all trends and styles.

Watch for the trends and see how you can fit with them or buck the trend and go the opposite way.

The current trend of guys who look like douchebags is what everyone is doing. That is out.

Notice the Pickup Companies like Love Systems and RSD. Their general philosophy is Natural/Direct Game with a tendency to be "normal".
Right now, this is the way to be.

The pickup artist is the exception to the rule.
