heya guys,

I know some of you know this already, but I wanted to let you know first that I'm planning on leaving the Uk indefinately. I've been offered a number of Business Opportunities in the States. No idea what's gonna happen or which one to go with, however I'm almost certain to be leaving within the next 2 months, for the forseeable future.

Just wanted to see what you guys thought of where would be good to be based in your eyes, and if you had the choice of working with almost any PU Company in the world who would you work with?

Most of the opportunities you spoke of at your talk were West Coast affiliated...soooo that'd lead me to believe that'd be a good place to shack up?

BUT! You love it here so much, perhaps you should set up shop in the DF-Dub.

As far as company affiliation goes, I agree whole-heartedly with your choice to take this and that from each camp...so I'd hate to see you start preaching one exclusively. You need to find the Wal-Mart of Pickup methodologies and get in with that!

OK, I have lived and worked on projects all over the U.S. Here is my take on the cities.....Others feel free to chime in

LA/Orange County:
- Pros - good weather, lots to do (mountains, culture and beach), beautiful women
- Cons - expensive, lots of traffic, smog can become very depressing after a while, fake attitudes

San Diego:
- Pros - very beautiful, best weather in the country, pretty girls
- Cons - very small town feel and boring after a while, expensive

San Jose:
- Pros - pretty
- Cons - no women and lots of geeky-tech guys, as one of my girl friends says "where the odds are good and the goods are odd"

San Fran:
- Pros - beautiful city, lots of culture, plenty to do, very diverse culture
- Cons - expensive, cold weather much of the year, women are average but act like they are way above, expensive

Seattle:
- Pros - very beautiful, not many chain restaurants, lots to do especially if you are outdoorsey, diverse
- Cons - expensive, misty rain much of the time, women are just average looking, small town feel that gets old after a while (same bars, same people)

Las Vegas:
- Pros - lots to do, lots of hot women from all over the world wanting to have fun, relatively inexpensive
- Cons - seedy underside, easy to get sucked into all of the sin the city has to offer, slowest airport on the planet, hot weather

Phoenix/Tuscan
- Pros - one of my favorite cities, hot weather (but dry), hot women, lots of nightlife, inexpensive
- Cons - you are living in the middle of a desert

Minneapolis/St Paul
- Pros - heathiest city in America year after year, inexpensive, Mall of America
- Cons - cold, women are just average looking in general

Chicago
- Pros - lots of culture, young crowd, not pretentious, plenty to do, great restaurants
- Cons - not called the "Windy City" for nothing, lots of alcoholism in the midwest

Kansas City
- Pros - inexpensive, good down home living, remarkable nightlife for a smaller city
- Cons - not much else around, poor city in many areas, bad weather in winter

Dallas/Ft Worth
- Pros - inexpensive, easiest airport to commute out of, hot women
- Cons - only chain restaurants, pretentiousness (Dallas), no culture to speak of (try taking a visitor to tourist spots - there are none except where a President got killed)

Austin
- Pros - hot women, college town, very liberal easy going city, inexpensive, live music capitol of the world, one of my favorite cities
- Cons - horrible traffic, economy not doing well

San Antonio
- Pros - good party town, inexpensive
- Cons - large military and hispanic culture which doesn't mix well with average Joe, poor city, bad traffic, most industry is only hospitality

Houston
- arm pit of America, 'nuff said (sorry Houston guys, not a fan)

Pittsburgh
- Pros - pretty city in many areas, lots of things to do
- Cons - bad weather, not cheap, women are average

Boston
- Pros - very academic, great night life, pretty city, lots to do, plenty of shopping
- Cons - weather, clique-ish, expensive

D.C./Virginia
- Pros - lots to do, plenty of culture, hub of the nation, easy to commute with public transportation
- Cons - expensive, women are average, traffic is bad

Denver/Boulder
- Pros - skiing, beautiful, good nightlife
- Cons - expensive, women are "earthy", flanel is a fashion choice, cold

Miami
- Pros - most beautiful women in the world, lots to do, plenty of culture, great dining
- Cons - very expensive, very fake, very clique-ish

NY
- Pros - culture, shopping, restaurants, fashion hub, tons to do, plenty of jobs, easy to meet people
- Cons - so very expensive, I have not found many hot women in my many travels there although everyone claims they are there, weather, commute, crime

Jacksonville
- Pros - college town, good restaurants, nightlife, pretty girls
- Cons - weather is sticky, poor area outside of city

New Orleans
- Pros - great party city, no inhibitions, great music, great food
- Cons - poor city outside of Bourbon, city not the same since Katrina, crime

Portland
- Pros - good food, pretty city, lots of outdoorsey stuff to do
- Cons - very grungey, poor city, no hot women

Salt Lake City
- Pros - beautiful, clean, low crime, skiing, good restaurants
- Cons - city shuts down at night, very conservative,

Atlanta
- Pros - lots of trees, pretty city, good nightlife, trendy, hot women, party city
- Cons - horrible traffic, expensive, its still the "South" which means difference ethnic backgrounds don't mix well

For different reasons, my favorite cities are Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, San Fran, and Miami.

I think companies are becoming less and less important, and personalities are really what matter. I for one don't care about the companies. It's the individuals that carry weight.

That said, I think Neil Strauss has got some genius internet marketers on his team, but then to be honest I think a lot of them do.

I think some of your opinions on citys are fairly generalized, NYC (which i am most familiar with) is stereotyped as having all this crime, when its mostly a false pre-tense. I have seen plenty of hot women there, you just have to go to the right places (check out the clubs by chelsea). I also lived near Miami, and do agree about the hottest women, and it can be fake at times too, but that comes with the territory. I'd go with NYC if i had a choice, but i suppose im bias having spent most of my life in the NYC metro area.

I'm a commercial photographer and have traveled all over the country shooting jobs. Also, I love to travel although be it in the states only at this point.

NY: Is an amazing place!! If your in the city though better be use to the city life for sure. No car, subways, small, expensive, ect, ect. Lots of Italian people, everyone CAN be rude and not nearly as friendly as people in So Cal or Texas. Also it snows like a mofo up there half the year.

I'm born and raised a Texas boy so no place like Texas Baby!!! Perks here are that shit is cheap. Can live with LOTS of room, have a huge house, bad ass car and if you enjoy food from south of the border there is some great tex mex and killer steaks. Dallas is the strongest market in Texas hands down. I hear people say Houston, or Austin but from a business perspective the money is in Dallas for sure. Plus it has DFW so its a hub for pople to come into all over the world. Fly to LA in 3 hours or NY in 3 hours. Girls are hot here as well but not like So Cal. I take that back, there are 11's here in Dallas for sure but in So Cal its like all over 11's. Everywhere you go is a drop dead waitress hoping to be the next model or actress. Thing I hate the most about Texas is no real natural scenic beauty to the area. No mountains, no waterfalls, no ocean, nothing. Just cool rivers, lakes and state parks. Thats why I fly to northern Cali twice a year for my Yosemite trips. Cali has crazy good national parks and shit like that.

I went to college in southern california (Santa Barbara) which is about a hour north of LA on the 101. After college I moved to Hollywood to start working for playboy studios. (No I'm not kidding it was fuckin awesome) The work obviously had its benifits but that was the only plus I really saw long term. Amazing oceans, tons to do, mountains, national parks, woman, woman, and did I mention woman?? All blonde hair big boobs and fucking hot. Wear a condom though its got pretty bad std's all over Cali. Beach volleyball, sailboats, and good seafood. If I only knew a little of what I have learned from you and others I would'nt be secretly hating myself for missed opportunitys. HAHAH

Down side to So Cal is it is WAYYYYYYY expensive. Along the same lines as NY for sure. I lived in a 5 bedroom old victorian house in college with 4 other people and our total rent alone was like 4 grand a month. without bills, food, VERY, VERY expensive gas and the list goes on. It doesn;t have to be that high obviously but just to give you an idea its way more than you would spend in a slightly smaller market.

Have a few buddys who are still there and in west hollywood, pasadena, orange county and so forth. There all in the photography, motion picture industry and are surviving but its sooo much more expensive out there its hard even when your making great money. TRAFFIC FUCKIN SUCKSSS!!!! UUGGGGG!! Honestly, its probably the main reason I came back to Texas over moving to LA. You will sit in traffic more than any other city in the coutry. I cant stress enough how horrible it is. I'm talking a parking lot with 6 lanes of traffic in both directions sitting still!!! Everyday Almost. Kill me now!!

Thats all the advice I got bud from my personal experiences so best of luck and welcome to America!!

I'm in San Jose right now. Even the locals call it "Man Jose". Bullshit though. Plenty of cool chicks here. Check out the Brit pubs and Santana Row.

Chicago are drinking folk like us Brits. Not a con. Best city in America IMO. Go bears.

Also Dallas is a shit hole. Good for pickup though as it is bereft of male talent (as advertised on this board).
