Need some help with online

Postby JohnnyBravo » Thu Jan 10, 2008 9:53 pm

A chick's profile on a dating site:

She's 26, asian, and athletic.
I wish to know more people from here, the really cool ones. I moved from Iowa to Texas two years ago. By far I like Texas pretty much over Iowa since there is a lot more to do here. So things are going well in life but still, I'm looking for that special person to come along...Well we'll see what happens

Ok, straight to the point, he certainly has to be smart, well-educated, caring, mature, and laid back. More importantly he needs to have a good heart and a dream of life. Also it would be awesome if he possesses a good sense of humor, so we can have a good laugh together.

My reply - This was my first e-mail to her:

I liked what I read in your profile. You sound like you might be fun. I can't really tell for sure though.

Of course you like Texas better than Iowa. Texas IS better than Iowa! :)

So tell me three reasons I should get to know you...What makes you special?

Hope you're having a good year so far.

Later,

Her reply back to me:

Firstly, I am fun. It's a fact. But I'm not just looking for fun.
Secondly, Texas is better than Iowa. You are right about this.
Thirdly, I'm not trying to do a job interview here so I don't have to make you like me and or to prove I'm special just to intrigue you into getting to know me. I don't like**** arrogant fellows.
Lastly, Thanks! Hope you are having a good year too!

Where to go from here?

Reel back a little. Bite your tongue. "No, I wasn't trying to make it out to be a job interview. Sorry it seemed that way. You know how some people online can be. I've just been hurt that's all." Whatever. Reel back a little. Bite the bullet. Make it seem like it's your bad. Apoligize. Whatever you have to do until you build a little comfort with her. Then you can play the games. She might be a whitty one so be careful how you word things. Then change the subject to agree with her on what she said about not just wanting to have fun. "It's good to hear your not just trying to have fun because that is something we actually have in common. Sometimes you have to take life seriously ya know? I mean I have my priorities and I think having fun should come in a close second. Don't get me wrong I like to have fun like the next person but there is a time and a place for that.

You could always ask the question "What makes you, you? Not like what you do for a living, but what makes you tick because you seem so far to be an interesting person."
