What would make for a good summit?

Postby Vector » Fri Dec 28, 2007 3:55 pm

Hey guys, Treekiller is considering putting together a summit, and is interested in what you guys would be interested in. Last time there was a summit, nobody from Dallas went. The airfare must have certainly played a part.
  • What considerations are important in determining whether you'd want to go?
  • And if you did go, what would you want to get out of it?

Here is the message from Treekiller:

I'm over in Austin, and we've been kicking around what we'd want to experience if sometime this year a city held a major PUA summit. No specific date or activities have been set in stone, so we wanted to chat with PUAs in other cities and get some opinions.

We're currently discussing who to have as guest speakers from the community (both locally and nationally), how much something like this should cost, and what topics (i.e. inner game, building rapport/comfort, getting more skilled at sex, same day lays, texting/online game, learning the basics of picking out wine, etc.)

We'd love to hear if you guys have any thoughts on this.

Location is important--I have no interest in going to a PUA seminar in LA, but if it were in Dallas or Austin, people in our community would be much more likely to attend. Price is another issue, and I'm sure as price increases the number of people willing to attend would drop off really quickly--perhaps it would be possible to have it free, but allow the speakers to advertize their products breifly?

As to what I'd like to get from it, I'd seek to improve my skills and work on my sticking points, as well as some nifty tactics I can employ in the field.

p.s. It is good to see our lairs working together like this.

I already did their survey thing.
price is important, so is location.
I'd love to see some in-field instruction or demonstration. Things sound good in a room, but out in real life is where things really get tested, and refined.
"Ask what makes you come alive and do it, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt."

To me as long as the location is here, or in Austin I don't care. I would like it to be here of course.

The main thing I want to see at a PUA summit, is like an exhibition hall where you can go and meet the different people from the different companies, and see the catalog of their products. A stage that has lectures and stuff going on, of course is a must.

In field instruction sounds good in theory, but when you have 5,000 self proclaimed PUA's gathered around to watch a guru pick up a chick, I dont know about you but that would freak me out let alone the poor helpless young lady. Unless we did some hidden camera type stuff and packed the guys into a room to watch the live feed while the guru went and did it, that would be hella tight.

Possibly get each company to auction off a one on one to cover the cost of the exhibition hall and stage fees and sell raffle tickets or something.

When you go to a summit, the companies have to be able to advertise, otherwise there really is NO incentive to put yourself in such a competitive venue, which is why I think the exhibition hall would be good, then you could require the speakers to only give advie and talk theory when they talk on stage while keeping the advertisment to, "Stop by our booth for more info."

I would actually want to hear things on topics such as, shit-tests and general ways to deal with them, text/phone game, getting the community to actually do stuff besides PU, General theory on the flow of PU, screening, the list goes on......

As far as price.... free would be great, but honestly, I would pay up to $20-25 to go to a summit if there are ample benefits for going.

The community here is one of the largest and organized in the world. I'd suggest The Dallas PUA Society should hold a summit. Dallas is a perfect location as it is central in the US. And some big name gurus have stated they are impressed by what we have going on here.

I don't think product advertisements are a bad thing. They not only give the Big Boys an opportunity to get their product out there and maybe land a customer or two...but it also allows us to see what exactly IS out there.

If they held multiple seminars on different levels of the game, it would obviously bring a bigger crowd in. Seems like I'm stating the obvious.

When I go to these IT Conferences every year, at the end of each day huge groups of people go out to all the local bars. They spread out so it's not overwhelming. I'm not necessarily talking about in-field seminars, but some organization on this would be helpful...as well as unite the community. We live here, we know the venues...we organize that.

I agree w/ Vector that Dallas would be a better location than Austin. For one...90% of the locations in Dallas actually have parking : )

I have other ideas, but I'll save them for later...if this starts to take off.

One of the things I've attended that we could look into setting up was a mixed summit with people from multiple techniques and teaching styles comming in a speaking on lots of topics. Traveling any where you can drive in a day maybe even an over night trip will usually have a better turn out than somewhere youve got to fly to. It all comes down to the dollar there. Have we thought of having one here in dallas?
