Web interface to IRC

Got something to say?

Web interface to IRC

Postby Vector » Tue Jan 08, 2008 7:44 pm

Okay guys, I've just set up a web application for chatting on IRC.

You can find it here: http://www.dallaspua.com/chat/index.html

Experiment and let me know what you think!

this is cool man, we can have chats and more effectively help each other in real time than on the forum now. Good addition.

As some of you have discovered, this is unfortunately a "trial version" of the software. To register the software costs $25.

The DallasPUA treasury has some funds which could be used to register this software, but I'd like to make sure it's going to be worthwhile.

Give it a shot and let me know how you like it.

There has been very little traffic on the chat thing.

Is there anything missing that would make it more usable? Perhaps a more prominent link to it?

Also I realize that it's a "trial" version which quits after a few minutes. Some of the surplus from Saturday's event could be used to register the application, but it doesn't make sense if nobody is going to use it.

What do you think should happen with it?

I'll comment even though it doesn't matter what I say. I'm an IRC whore.

I think if people could give it a shot...and there was a bit more activity, then people could see its potential. It would be real-time suggestion, coaching, and general bullshitting which brings the community closer.

I agree.

I have been thinking about re-vamping the interface so that it's actually possible to navigate among the different parts of DallasPUA, from Forums to Resources/Wiki to News to Chat. As it is, I bookmark the forum and I never visit anything else. Chat has to be easy to launch before people are going to use it regularly.
