Ok. I like the site. But content should be our own or by permission. I think it kinda sucks to steal stuff.
If you look on ASF, there's a disclaimer that they basically own the rights to the posts.
Personally, if I post somewhere and its my content, I can repost it. Which I do. They want to sue me, go ahead.
But if you just cut and paste stuff, you may get flamed by Formhandle or others.
You don't want that reputation.
Get some guys to post and ask people if they would like to contribute.
Most people will not have a problem. Post on ASF that you're looking for new cutting edge stuff.
The response will overwhelm you.

Tribulus, I understand you. It may seem ideal not to use other material. And I highly respect your opinion. Trib, you are a good guy.

I have been a member and owner of other forums just like this one. The great thing about a forum like this is you can exchange ideas, talk, learn, debate. In every forum I have belonged to, it is common practice to cut and paste a news article, part of another person post, etc, in the pursuit of learning and debate. What better way to learn than present the best of whats out there than just mediocre.

The content I did put up was just tid bits I had added to my own file for personal use - they were the best of what I read. I don't recal where I had got them, otherwise I would link back a source (which is what you should do). They were some of the best material I saw and wanted to share with you on the basis of learning and making this a better group.

I think this project is going to do very well and you'll help alot of people.
You'll need support from friends and people in the community. You might put out a notice on ASF when you're up.

I was always under the impression, regardless of the site saying they own the posts or not, that the content you post is yours.

For example, you write a post on ASF, and even though they claim to own it, you really do and you can cross-post it anywhere.

I imagine, someone can't claim to own something you created regardless of the medium it is stored on(in this case a website and database). It seems akin to someone recording a song on the radio and attempting to claim that since they made the recording, it's their song and not the creators.

This is called Copyright De facto. as an entity, they hold copyright protection in order to protect their rights. They don't hold the specific rights to whatever you publish, but it does protect them in case of suits for liability.

Yes, it does remain yours. And if someone plagirizes your material, it is up to you to take whatever appropriate action is called for.
