Induction of new members

Got something to say?

Induction of new members

Postby Mojo » Fri Jun 22, 2007 9:28 am

I propose we tap new members bi-anually, keeping the official first meet on May 29th and then having the secong 6 months later on Novemember 29th (just after elections).

The criteria the potential new members have to meet is in the consitution. Maybe it would be a good idea to require 100% vote in rate. Apparently I forgot to put that in the Constitution.

Bi-annually sounds good to me.

Not sure what everyone else thinks....

I like the idea of a supermajority: 66% saying Aye!

But don't I remember us talking about the 100% vs majority vote.

I thought we decided that it should be 100%, but anyone not in favor needs to give a valid reason as to why.

Or am I just dreaming up shit now... LOL

To change the U.S. Constitution you need 66% of the people(supermajority) to agree on it. This keeps it possible to change it, but not on a whim. And look at the changes that have been made, big sweeping issues. The only goof in there was Prohibition, but it didnt last. Cheers!

Where 100% agreement on anything ,where theres more than a few people, little gets done. Then people get frustrated.

For induction of inner circle, I think a 66% vote of the current members would be good. 50% would allow more people that shouldnt possibly be there.

The masons us a black ball system. Everyone gets a black ball and a white ball and you drop one in a box. if there is a black ball in the box you're out. The system works because it makes the voting members really think about their vote. While this doesn't work on a large level like federal government, in organizations like this it promotes careful consideration of every candidate. It's basically the same way a jury works. The nice thing about this system in this instance is the candidates don't know they are being voted on until they have been voted in.

We can also do votes on the board in the inner circle forum where we can discuss candidates and vote using the poll system. Give it a few weeks and everyone vote. Two weeks should be enough to get a vote out of everyone and opinions in the post.

remember, the inner circle is a small body and we don't want to force its members to deal with someone who really grates on their nerves.
