What you speak of is basic stratergy blackjack where the house has about a 1% edge over the player.

I have played blackjack for at least 10 years. In England you can find a low deck game in any local casino - used to be single deck. I only play against a human shuffle and the number of decks should be as low as possible. Some tables in Vegas go down to 2 or 3 I believe. . You can confer a nice advantage if you get lucky with the count. You want more high cards in the deck late, amongst other things.

Overall the game is about walking away when you are up or up big. Just like any casino game. Also remember it makes no difference whatsoever to your result (except to annoy you) when people play stupid (all the time).

These two are also excellent:

http://www.bj21.com also http://www.stanfordwong.com (These both lead to the same site.) This site also has quite a few "membership" pages. Membership is only $50/year and definitely worth it if you're into learning how to play with an advantage.

And finally...

I read the book Busting Vegas about two mounths ago and was fasinated with Semyon Dukach and his team. I would love to be able to do half of what they did.

Dubya,

It's not really that difficult to learn to count cards. It just takes practice. That's all. I used to play in Shreveport all the time. However, I'm now known all over town and can't play anywhere in Shreveport anymore. You live there. You should learn how to count. Look at those websites I mentioned if you're interested in learning. PM me if you have any questions.
