Interesting post on how what you believe is different from what you believe what you believe

The takeaway is that people who don't have confidence in a given belief will anticipate responses that negate that belief and that people will make excuses in advance as though to convince themselves that they really believe something! This is a big tie-in to when people talk about things like being congruent.
