Pump Up Songs

I’ve been at home sick for the first time in 4 years. I’m listening to a lot of songs because I have some ear thing and I can’t hear much out of one ear, I listen to music to block it out. These are the songs that get me pumped up.

Lifting:
These are the songs that get me pumped to lift some fucking weights like a beast. I can’t hear these without wanting to grab a barbell and throw some weights through the roof.

War is my Destiny – Ill Bill
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRLl2yVrJzE

They killed my entire family, murdered and tortured, raped and pillaged
I was only five and I was the only survivor witness
My entire village burnt to the ground, he wore a serpent in his crown
While happily committing murder with a frown
And an army of black hooded fiery skulled generals
And a sorcerer that could cast spells that'd change your genitals
Held me in slavery 'til I turned eighteen
Killed my slave master five years later, became King
And I slain dragons and ate sticks during famine
Had the seeds of war planted in the dirty tavern
Had the seeds of presidents killed in a burst of anger
And had their parents bleed to death on the floor of a dirty bathroom
I watched the palaces burn
And seen the ashes of my comrades return to their family in an urn
While the proud child remembers his father that died
The cycle continues with vengeance, alive in his mind

Mouth For War – Pantera
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3JSbOt7CLo

Possessed
I feel a conquering will down inside me
Strength
The strength of many to crush
Who might stop me
My strength is in number
And my soul lies in every one
The releasing of anger can better any medicine under the sun

Here Comes the Pain – Slayer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZP6zv6ifnY

I am the new hell on earth
The lord of agony divine
Domination, intimidation
Lives within these eyes
Reign of power
Remorseless anarchy
I am arrogance in the flesh
Unleashed intensity

Bring it all on
Come and take on what you fear
I'm the storm
That towers overhead
Ticking time bomb
With an infinite charge
Bringer of torture
The master is here
Everyone falls

I Will Be Heard – Hatebreed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB3tmC2f3t0

I WILL BE
I WILL BE HEARD
I WILL BE
I WILL BE HEARD
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ME TO RISE TO MY FEET
(I WILL BE HEARD)
WIPE THE SPIT FROM MY FACE
WIPE THESE TEARS FROM MY EYES
(I WILL BE HEARD)

Cardio

For Cardio I prefer to listen to songs that are less aggressive, more introspective, and transport you to a different time and place. I put these songs on and everything is blocked out, I’m lost in the music, running or whatever I’m doing is easy this way. Horns and string sections give the listener a feeling of urgency, which I enjoy.

Duk Koo Kim – Sun Kil Moon (This song is so good, it’s 14 minutes long and it’s still too short)

Your Ex-Lover is Dead – Stars
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55FMOJMhV9s

Dizzy – Jimmy Eat World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOr0M0xov6g

I didn’t mean to hurt you – Spiritualized

Definitely get their EP, The Hearts Of Lonely People. The thing is, Isles & Glaciers is a supergroup, consisting of members of 3 different bands. It is more of a side project, so there is a good chance they won't release much more, if any more songs.

They have such a unique sound that it is hard to find stuff that sounds like it. But I will list some things I think are somewhat similar.

Check out Emarosa's self titled album.
Listen to Broken vs. The Way We Were Born, I think this is one of the best off of the album, and has a similar sound to Viola Lion.

Jonny Craig - What I would Give To Be Australian. This is one of the singers solo projects from Isles & Glaciers (He's also the singer for Emarosa). He has crazy range on his voice, one of the best vocalists today IMO.

Circa Survive has a similar sound, but I am sure you already know who they are. If not, in my original post I linked to one of their songs.

Secret & Whisper - Great White Whale. The album that song is on is by the same name, and is a concept album about Moby Dick. One of my more favorite albums.
