Guys, i think what smirks is trying to say is that in the end it really doesn't matter if you are super ripped with a bulging 6 pack or you are just an average tone. Sure, you may get a couple more points if you are ripped. But it isn't really a factor when it comes to a girl fuckin you.

Like owning a ferrari, sure it'll get you some extra points if you own one, but the exact same outcome can easily be achieved with a toyota camry. In the end they are both superficial items that don't make much of a difference. And a lot of guys depend on a great body, money, and expensive toys to get them success. When all you really need is the confidence that's inside of you.

I have a natural friend that is great with women. Has bed more than 130. He works out, but he doesn't have crazy ass biceps or a six pack. He doesn't have a sports car, or even an expensive car. This shit really doesn't matter. But we trick ourselves into believing that it does. That we need the three hundred dollar shoes and the new car and that body of a greek god. When just a little confidence and self esteem would have gotten you that much further.
What are you basing this on? Doesn't seem to be based on any type of scientific data/study result. This is your PERCEPTION. Based on the results of this Australian study, women don't necessarily prefer a 6-pack over not having one.

Let's apply your mentality to some other things: Whites are uptight. Black people like pigs feet. Gay men wear glitter. Asians know some form of martial arts. Mexicans build houses. Jews are good with money. Middle Easterners are terrorists.

You are both making these statements as if they are absolute...I adamantly believe they are not.
Studies are easily manipulated and therefore are not always accurate.

I can conduct a study and the conclusion would be that Asian guys like white women. The outcome would be based on my 3 friends and me, which all prefer white women. Does this make my "study" valid?

Also, no study is required if your point can be proven.

For example the following statement, keep in mindthat were talking generalities here, is true. Black people are better than Asians at football and basketball. Who here would argue against that argument? There is no study, but if you look at the demographic data of NBA and NFL personnel, there are more blacks than asians, so it's safe to say that the staement holds true.

I do not know of a study that says women prefer men with abs, but I think the proof is all around us.

Why do Beauty magazines feature men with six packs? Why are male hunk calendars full of men with six packs? Why is the weight loss a billion dollar industry? Why do classic paintings depict men with six packs (even Jesus has a six pack in most of his paintings)? Why do women drool over the spartans in the movie 300? Why do most male strippers have six packs?

Need I go on?

You guys are talking about the exception, which I understand that not ALL women likes guys with six packs, but a six pack has always been desired by both men and women.

For anyone to sit there and tell me that women do not prefer six packs is ludicrous...

Justus,
it's clearly understood that a six pack is not will get you laid (but sometimes it does). There are many other factors that make up a mans value. We know that. I get that.

The topic of discussion is do women prefer a man with a six pack or not. And I think we have discussed that ad nauseam. Those who still believe that women do not prefer a man with a six pack can believe that. While I will go do 1000 sit ups so that when I go to the river, women can wish their bf had my body....
Why do Beauty magazines feature men with six packs?
Do they? I don't think that's true. I thought they usually had an undernourished vampire or McDreamy in them. After all, the People Magazine's sexiest man alive winner is usually someone like George Clooney, Richard Gere, or Johnny Depp.
Why are male hunk calendars full of men with six packs?
Because that's what gay men like. I mean, how popular are those things really? They're not as popular as romance novels, Pretty Woman, Grey's Anatomy, vampire stories, and so on.
Why is the weight loss a billion dollar industry?
Because it's profitible to exploit people's insecurities.
Why do classic paintings depict men with six packs (even Jesus has a six pack in most of his paintings)?
Do they? I don't think that's true. Jesus is portrayed as emaciated in paintings. Is Jesus supposed to be a 21st century sex symbol? Besides, artists study the human form. It's perfectly logical for an artist to attempt to show anatomical accuracy in their work.
Why do women drool over the spartans in the movie 300?
Do they? I've never met a woman who likes that movie.

That brings up something else I've been thinking about. Plenty of women are into Brad Pitt. However, I have never heard a chick say that she specifically likes Brad Pitt in Fight Club. The "Brad Pitt in Fight Club" mantra is something I only see in this forum.
Why do most male strippers have six packs?
Do they? I don't know. BTW, there is a perception that most male strippers are gay. Why is that?

That last statement almost defeats your argument.

The actors you listed have other factors that give them value, so the women's judgemnt are not based solely on their abs or physical body. Let's have a sexiest stomach contest and see if the winner has a six pack or not. I can wager that the winner of that contes will have a six pack.
Because that's what gay men like. I mean, how popular are those things really? They're not as popular as romance novels, Pretty Woman, Grey's Anatomy, vampire stories, and so on.
once again, the items youve listed creates emotional excitement for women. Let's sell two calendars. Hunks with six packs or men without one and see which one generates more sales. I'm pretty sure the one with the six pack will.
Because it's profitible to exploit people's insecurities.
But why are they insecure about their stomach? Is it because their stomach is flabby and not desired by the opposite sex?
Do they? I don't think that's true. Jesus is portrayed as emaciated in paintings. Is Jesus supposed to be a 21st century sex symbol? Besides, artists study the human form. It's perfectly logical for an artist to attempt to show anatomical accuracy in their work.
So nature intended that men have six packs intheir natural form. Nature is beautiful.
Do they? I've never met a woman who likes that movie.
Yes they do, I hear it all the time. Women may not like the movie, but they love the Spartans physical body.
That brings up something else I've been thinking about. Plenty of women are into Brad Pitt. However, I have never heard a chick say that she specifically likes Brad Pitt in Fight Club. The "Brad Pitt in Fight Club" mantra is something I only see in this forum.
Brad Pitt also have other movies in which he has a six pack. Thelma and loiuse. Troy. Shit, I don't think he's played a roll where he doesn't have a six pack. once again, brad pitt has other things that make him attractive.
Do they? I don't know. BTW, there is a perception that most male strippers are gay. Why is that?
So what if male strippers are gay? Their establishments (straight strip clubs for women) are filled with WOMEN.
That last statement almost defeats your argument.
how so?

Who knew this thread would be so much fun?

Rhody, the actors you named (Depp, Clooney, Richard Gere) are older and appeal to an older class of woman. After a certain age, it becomes difficult, nay nearly impossible, to be that lean without looking unnatural. That is also the reason bodybuilders are unattractive. The unnatural look is not found to be attractive by most women.

That, and those guys are hardly ever filmed without their shirts on. And they have good facial features and good style.

You're curious, so I'll let you know that the Brad Pitt in Fight Club thing comes from a post I did a couple weeks back where I described him as an example of the most desirable body type preferred by most women (though most women fell for him in Legends of the Fall if I remember right).

Pitt is often filmed without a shirt, in contrast.

For more examples, think CK underwear models. Like Marky Mark grabbing his funky bunch...

Otherwise, you make some points that I don't argue with. The hunky male calendars, etc. Women are not as visual as we are. But, just because I say "not as visual" doesn't mean they aren't at all visual, just less so.

Or maybe they are just more mature in some ways. When I was school-age, I remember many or most girls had posters of guys on their walls.

Anyway, I still contend that the visual part of them likes a six pack.

Virtually every woman on the planet prefers a man with a larger than average cock. But, sometimes it turns out that the guy that some girl had just met has such a beast in his pants while other times it turns out that he doesn't. Most likely, she's already made the decision about whether or not she likes you well before she'll ever get the chance to find out about your manhood.

Same with abs.

Is it prefered for a guy to be ripped and have a six pack? YES!!! Do women prefer a large cock? YES!!!! But, does it matter really if you don't have either? NO!!! YOU CAN STILL GET PUSSY!!!

So, it comes down to this...what's the real virtue of possessing something that only you know you possess? Leverage. If you roll into a bar, or anywhere for that matter, and know that you have superior intelligence, great abs, a HUGE bank account, or mammoth cock then what that's really going to do is provide you with an added boost of confidence. It's sort of like a source of strength. Kind of like how learning Game instilled in a lot of us that edge that we thought we needed to succeed. When it comes to the things that are not easily seen by the rest of the world, then it's best that we all understand that it's all mind games fellas, it's all in your head, it's all about what you project (within reason of course).

Having said that, put an average guy next to a ripped guy and 99.9% of the time, ceteris paribus (all things being equal), the girl will pick the ripped guy. I totally agree with this idea. Unfortunately, our world does not exist in a vacuum...when you compare two men, things rarely are ceteris paribus and there in lies the fallacy that saying that women, even generally, will pick the ripped guy over the average guy. There are too many variables so as to be able to isolate that one specific one and give it a value in the massive equation that drives attraction and mate selection.

great and valid points br.

But as I have said before, the question is which would women prefer, a man with a six pack or a man without (let's even extend this further to make a point, the SAME man)?

The answer is clear and simple. The man with the six pack!

I don't even know why this is up for discussion, seriously.

My old lady said that she finds this more attractive:

Than this.

She said in the second picture it looks like he has aids and that he's way too skinny. She said the "V" on the bottom is the more important part of great abs. And that if you get super ripped it looks like a turtle shell is on your stomach.

like this:

It's been my experience, too, that women like men with meat, at least a little bit.
