I'm going to have to just come out and say this...
No, it's not the antibiotics I'm on because of my wicked, nasty bronchial infection
Or the drugs I'm on to treat the symptoms
Or the sutble amout of booze to help me forget my misery
Or my lack of sleep because I can barely breathe
But, I am sick and fucking tired of UT. In my opinion, I think they are the MOST overrated team in the entire fucking nation every fucking year. I'm sitting here watching them play Texas Tech on national television, much like about 80% of the rest of the country, watching them destroy a very, very undermatched team. Actually, truth be told, the score should be MUCH, MUCH higher given how poorly Texas Tech has played and their talent as a team (OK, Texas Tech has staged a comeback, but it doesn't matter if Tech wins then I'm totally justified in my assertions...if not, the UT STILL sucks).
Anyway, UT is routinely ranked in the top 10 every single year. Why? I just don't understand why?
They play in one of the most pathetic conferences in the country. This is such a bad conference that they almost broke up over the Summer.
Every single, fucking year their schedule is one built for the short-bus crowd. As an example, let's examine this year's schedule:
Rice
Wyoming
Texas Tech
UCLA (somewhat legit)
Oklahoma (always legit)
Nebraska (legit this year, I will wager cash, money that UT loses this game)
Iowa State (they have a football team?)
Baylor (REALLY????, I can promise that UT will not beat them by a wider margin than TCU beat them today...35points)
Kansas State (they are a Longhorn killer so I like them)
Oklahoma State (somewhat legit)
Florida Atlantic (this is a REAL college...shit, University of Phoenix has an intra-murial team that has next...)
Texas A&M (always 50/50)
The sad thing is that with a little luck, UT could run the table given this poor attempt at building a schedule. BUT, if Boise State or TCU loses even ONE game they are OUT (PS I can promise that TCU beats Baylor by more that UT and BSU beats Wyoming by more than UT). But, let's forget that and focus on some really qualty teams with real quality schedules:
Alabama
San Jose State (a joke)
Penn State (by year's end a top 10 team)
Duke (a joke)
Arkansas (a legit top 10 contender)
Florida (top 10 and possibly a top 5 team)
South Carolina (top 10 contender)
Mississippi
Tennessee
LSU (top 10 contender)
Georgia State (SUCKS)
Auburn (top 10 contender)
If this team loses even ONE game, they will no longer be the top ranked team in the U.S.
I love watching college games, but almost every year, the wrong team is annointed the BEST team. The most offensive culprit, IMHO, is always UT. This is a team that works the 'system.' Truth be told, if a team doesn't play in the SEC or the BIG 10, then you probably shouldn't be in the national championship game. Some exceptions will apply, such as when USC was so good in the Pac10 (but the Pac10 then was legit, UC, UCLA, UW, Arizonia, Oregon State, etc.).
But, generally speaking, in college football the best teams almost always just beat the shit out of each other all season while shitty teams like UT take advantage of their weak conference and favorable schedule. Every year, the championship game should be one of the following scenarios:
1) SEC champ vs. BIG 10 champ
2) SEC champ vs. SEC runner-up
3) BIG 10 champ vs. BIG 10 runner-up
4) SEC/BIG 10 champ vs. Cinderella team with a legit schedule
College football needs a playoff system to expose the frauds and to shine the light on the super stars...
Still, UT is the MOST OVERRATED team in college football...year in, year out...
