America, the new China.

Anything goes

America, the new China.

I was browsing the net today, and found out that the senate has introduced S. 3804:Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act. Pretty much it is a bill saying that, if passed, the American government will be able to "blacklist' certain websites, and censor these sites. Your ISP will be required to block these sites. So, for example lets say youtube was on this blacklist, then no one in the country would be able to access youtube, unless they did some tricky stuff like routing their data through an out of country server.

This is the same type of censorship that China enforces on their people. Not to mention that it would hurt business in America, because companies that house their internet servers here will move business out of the country into one that has real freedoms.

Sure, there is a chance that it won't get passed as a bill, but the very thought that a group of our leaders think it is a good idea to censor the internet....is astonishing to say the least.

"But but but, that is how they view freedom, it has nothing to do with us! Let them practice their freedom of speech you bigot! Why do you hate the Constitution?"

The land of the free, but only when our tyrannical government deems it to be acceptable.

Muise said such a statement illustrates how the nation already is adopting a "protected class of speech directed toward Muslims."

Or you could open your eyes and see it's about the same censorship that's happening already and stop trying to deny it is.

Government says saying anything about muslims other than, they are good kind hearted people who want nothing but peace, is bad and must be censored... It's already happening in the real world... just a matter of time before it happens online.

You could even take Guns statment
"Sure, there is a chance that it won't get passed as a bill, but the very thought that a group of our leaders think it is a good idea to censor the internet....is astonishing to say the least."
and do this to it:
Sure, there is a chance that it won't get passed as a bill, but the very thought that a group of our leaders think it is a good idea to censor free speech....is astonishing to say the least.
After all, to squash public admonishment of the government, the Chinese government also uses policing the internet to control what is said about them.

But go ahead Muk, continue to pull the wool over your eyes.

Maybe I'm too stupid to understand this, but why would the government give two shits about censoring out crazy people from saying negative things about Muslims? They may say "OK Guys, no need to be a dick to the Muslims, they aren't all crazed lunatics." but to go so far as to run a bill specifically to censor out the haters and do it under the guise of "Protecting Copyright" That's a pretty huge stretch. And PLEASE don't say that it's because "Obama is a Muslim" because he's not, and even if he were, that's still a huge stretch.

This isn't about Muslims; It's about all of these lobbying groups trying to take control over the internet and trampling free speech while they're at it.
